the only way i know or have done is to secure the tomatoes in a brown bag with a couple of unripened avacado. Seal and in a few days they will both be ripe.

It might be time for some fried green tomatoes.

Apples in the bag will ripen the tomatoes. My dad used to put the last of the green tomatoes each fall into a styrofoam cooler with a few apples and we would eat them up as they came ripe. I always thought they still had the sweetness of spring, but it was probably just the apple smell on them.

How about green tomato pickles? These were always a favorite in Maine where I grew up. Tomatoes didn't ripen very often.

I put green tomatoes wrapped in cardboard boxes; they ripen quite well.

You can put a banana or an orange in a bag with the tomatoes to hasten ripening.

Beverly...you don't need to put anything but the tomatoes in the brown
paper bag...I do it all the time.
