Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I am originally from Minnesota, but currently live on a Naval base in the Chicago suburbs. My husband recently returned from a year long tour in Afghanistan, and we are finally back together again. We have a 2 year old daughter named Rosemary. I am trying my best to maintain my famrgirl roots here in this city setting!

I wish I was a spinner! We have no room for a wheel in this house. :( I do hook rugs, knit, and needle felt though. We have been researching what kind of sheep we will be getting since we will be moving to our farm after my husband retires in a few years. I simply love everything about wool. Sounds silly, I just do!

A big Wisconsin hay dare to ya Karen! We are so glad you joined us. Thank you to your Husband and you for the service to our country. My DH (that's Dear Husband in MJF speak) and SIL (son-in-law), are both active duty and have had numerous tours in Iraq. I know what you are going through as a military family and I appreciate it. Welcome!

Hi Elizabeth,
How's the family? Isn't it great to be able to say "We're all fine"! Anywho will you be staying in northern Illinois or moving out of the area? I just wanted to pass along the dates for the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival in Jefferson WI. I know you don't have sheep yet but if you need wool (for knitting, hooking or what ever) or just a day in the country petting sheep you and your family might like this opportunity. It is coming up on September 10th - 12th. FYI there is usually a Charter Bus group that leaves from Fiddlehead Yarn Shop in Kenosha. Maybe I'll get to meet you there! Karen O.

We just got here, so se will be here for the next few years at least. I will be sure to make it out there Karen! I went to the Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fait last weekend. I came back all renewed with new project ideas! I love the show in Minnesota too. That one has more live animals for my little one (and me too!). I may just have to make a trek up to the yarn shop in Kenosha this week. I am still trying to learn all the great places in my new surroundings.

Wow, I forgot about that one. The Sheep and Wool Festival has a lot of animals so I think you ladies will enjoy it. Last year they had a lambing area which for city folk like me was amazing!
If you are interested in rug hooking there is a great shop in Waukesha, WI called A Primitive Pasttime, you can check it out online....Have Fun! Karen Olson
