I planted some seeds and put a piece of fence down for them to climb up. It's like a small arbor. Also planted some on an old fence. They are climbing all over it! Yesterday I noticed a lot of blooms. And today they are starting to open up! They have small red flowers. Hummingbirds are attracted to them. And butterflies also. I have only 2 hummingbirds that I have seen so far. They were out flying all over today.
My wild cardinal flowers just finished blooming. I got the plants a few years ago from "Graceful Gardens". They put on a very nice show, I love the deep red.
Kris I have the seeds., but haven't grown them this year(just didn't get around to planting due to work) My garden that I usually plant them in is weeds 6 ft high!!! I call it my bird sanctuary!! (HA) Also didn't plant my purple hyacinth bean vine & I LOVE that one! Next year, next year...The mantra of the unsuccessful gardener!
I know that, Lisa! I am always saying that next year will be better. I'll get out and weed more. I'll can more. I'll.... But next year comes and it gets too hot! Or the tiller won't work. Or something happens.
But these flowers are so pretty. I love them. Will they come back next year?
Sorry Kristin. I didn't take any pictures while it was blooming. I should have since it was so pretty and bloomed for so long. As all of you say, "next year"!
