I just signed up, my sister turned me on to this forum. I'm so glad because a forum I had belonged to for many years shut down when the owner retired. I miss it!

I am definately a country girl. I used to help my brother farm, and enjoyed driving a tractor and feeding steers, chickens, and pigs with him. Now I have a small 5 acre place of my own for me, my horse, dog, and my 80 year old Mother. We always gardened and canned, and I enjoy that when I have time. I'm an accountant by trade, but 9 hours a day at the office is getting old, so I hope to transition into something more creative and enjoyable here in middle age. I started a little website, and it's growing, ever so slowly, but it's not earning anything yet. I enjoy my pets, sewing, embroidery, old 50's style things, fleamarkets, feeding the birds, wildlife and nature. I live in a rural area, but there are maybe a dozen houses on this road, and unfortunately, I am surrounded by folks that moved out from the city and still think they are in a suburb...it's hard to be a naturalist nowadays.

Anyway, glad I found you all!

Some of my best friends are horses and dogs.

Hello Kathy I am fairly new also, joined end of June. I have a 13 acrea farm in Northern Maine about 40 miles from Canadian boarder. It is about 300 miles from our house in Ma. We stay about 3 to 4 days at a time. some times longer depending on the timing of my husbands work. We are still part time farmers as we have a house in Ma. We go up to the farm at least once a month, it is hard to leave and go back to Ma. I also sew, make penny rugs, paint, and do mix media art, garden, I am just getting into canning, love to cook.
