Well, she's home! We left the truck and trailor in the field last night. So this evening I drove down there and all the cows were right there. So I came back home and got a rope and a basket of apples and went back down there. I had just taken my hubby to get a ride to Kingsport, Tn. to get a new truck and get back to work. So it was just me.

I pulled the truck over to the shade where they all were and got Mazie to the trailor. I put the rope around her neck and put all the apples up front. I got in first and she followed me. So I went ahead and tied her to the front rail and got out. She was all the way in then. SO I shut the back door and went around and shut the side door and she was in! All by myself!

So she's out there with Roxie. She was very happy to see her long lost friend. I just hope she stays put now. I just walked around and made sure all gates are secure.

Now the guy who owns the place where she was is coming to get the truck out of the pasture. I need help to do that. I'll stand at the gate while he drives through. Then he will take me to get my car.

Then it's to the shower and to bed for me. It's been a long day. Thanks Teresa for the idea for the rope. That helped alot. And for all the other advice too.

So glad you got her home without anymore stress, don't want her aborting that calf, check into A.I. for the future, it's so much simpler and safer for everyone involved...

Teresa, she wasn't stressed at all. She was having a big ole time over there with all those other cows. She didn't want to leave them. We never hurt her or even made her run at all. We didn't try anything except bait her with apples. It was too hot for all of us to do too much strenuous "work" trying to load her. When she wouldn't go in we just gave up the other 3 times. The 4th time we didn't even get near her. So she was never harmed at all in any of the attempts to get her loaded. We were though! Just soaking wet with sweat really. It was fun to have the family help out.

I never said that you hurt her or ran her or harmed her in anyway, I was just stateing that strssful situations can cause health issues, no matter how small they are, is she did'nt get in the trailer with a prod etc, she was stressed to a degree...peace...

No prod was ever used either. Just apples. And a bunch of people that need to learn more about cattle.

She seems to be a happy heifer. I guess she's still a heifer til she has a calf? Then she's a cow? I am learning as I go for sure. And she is fat. I hope she is pregnant. I have always heard a fat animal cannot breed successfully. I guess I will know if she starts mounting Roxie. But so far so good. And she'll let me touch her udders just fine. She just stands there. Of course I have a brush and am using that. She is such a pretty girl.

Thanks for the concern. She was fine the whole time. I hope I wasn't too alarming in the telling of the stories. Sometimes I can get a bit overly excited. I did ask my friend to bring a cattle prod just to use in case she wouldn't go any further into the trailor. But even he was hesitant to use it in case she might get spooked and bolt. And he is a dairyman. So we never even brought that out.
