I'm assuming this is pretty common because a search on the internet gave me all sorts of videos to watch, but we have a totally narcolpetic rooster. He's always falling asleep standing up, always goes into the coop early...that rooster wants to do nothing but sleep. Never seen him with a hen, either.
Anyone know WHY some chickens seem to be narcoleptic? I've tried to look up the reasons but can't find anything. My mom was thinking it meant there was something wrong with him, but it sure seems that lots of people have chickens who do the same thing.

thats a new one on me, I've never had a rooster act that way, I would be a little leary until I knew for sure what the problem was...

Tell you what, we're pretty prolific around here when it comes to anything testosterone driven, I'll give you one of our roosters. I have 2 Easter Egger cockerels needing to find a new home, along with a couple of other roosters. They're up all day, get to crowing before the sun comes up, and I've never seen them fall asleep until it's time to go in the coop again.
