I met this beauty just a bit ago as I was tending to my pot of Tomatoes. She is quiet large, about two inches in body length. I do not freak over these critters.. unless they are of poisonous variety.... so, is she a safe one?
..hard to tell but she has some zig zag lines in her web... beautiful!

she lives beside this!

Isn't that a writing spider? My granddaughter said there is one right on their porch. ANd it has a sack of eggs now. They love their spider. It looks like that one. I don't think they are poisonous.

Back in Texas on my Uncle's Farm we call these little ladies - Zipper spiders :-) Yellow garden spiders. Enjoy the wonders of her web.

We had one at the place I used to work at. We all loved her and fed her quite a bit. They are so pretty!

Yes, she is one of the good girls. There was a black widow out on my AC yesterday. I was spraying the dirt and stuff out of the fins and she came running out. I ran too, the other way!

I love MJF! There aren't many places where people love spiders! They are fascinating creatures, and this one is a beauty. Susan

Every time I mow my yard, I come in with one of those spiders in my hair. They have never bitten me yet. Marly

What you have there is a Golden Garden Spider. It'll eat lots of insects for you.

I have bunches of those. I think they do a fabulous job of eating nagging insects. I love the yellow bright color.

I have a wonderful pic of this same spider. It built a web right across my steps from one side of the hand rail to the other, so her web was about 4 feet wide..lol seems they love that zig zag in the middle.
Make my words soft and tender, for I may have to eat them. :) |

I have her sister in my front yard:) She is always welcomed. If you look at her web you will see a zipper pattern. Barbara

I have these spiders in my South Dakota garden. They are also called orb spiders. I read where they spin a new web every night. Sometimes on a warm dry day I will throw a grasshopper into their web and they will quickly weave a cocoon over them. They are good spiders. Scary, yes when you first come to meet them, but good.
