I am researching "Drying Sheds" for my lavender.... Does anyone out here in forumland have a drying shed for herbs/lavender/flowers?
I am thjinking a 10x10 shed w/lots of drying lines & racks would be perfect for my lavender and herbs.
I kind of have an idea in my head as to what I want & how to lay it out...and I think hubby could build one simple enough but now to try and talk him into it...lol! Time to break out the home baked cookies to bribe him!

Yes mine is 12x12 and it is my dinning room. This time of year my house is filled with stuff that really shouldn't be inside. It would be nice to have a place to dry my garlic and onions other that a clothes drying rack in front of my fireplace, squeezed in by the table. Oh well, you have to make due somethimes. Good luck with building your shed. I would like to see pictures.

When my daughter moved out to go to college, I strung wires across the ceiling of her room for drying plant material. It works out well and makes my sewing room right next door smell nice. It would be great to have a separate outside space though. Good luck convincing him to build it. Keep us posted.

| I use two dehydrators to dry herbs and tomatoes, I put my onions on racks in the sun and then bring them in at night. A drying shed sounds like a really good idea. Suzanne |

I dry my herbs from a rack in my laundry toom. It's usually less humidity in there and they pretty bast. I tie a paper bag around each bundle so the light doesn't destroy the color. Bonnie

I use my barn and I also use old abandoned cup hooks in various rooms of my house.

I have to laugh, with 125 plants...I have a lot of lavender to dry...so needless to say, I hope I have no unexpected house guests as the guest room is the designated drying room along with the guest bathroom and our garage.....yep, using sheets under the lavender, also am useing some of my old vintage luggage to hold the dried lavender until I can start de-budding. I have about 20 plants left to harvest and have started de-budding the lavender that is already dry. Everything smells wonderfully lavender.
Hubby found a cool shed pattern to build my future drying shed and it will be on 'skids' so it can be moved over to the ManCave come Winter. To protect it from the harsh Winter winds & snow. I can hardly wait! Lavender fields & dreams

old cars work well. I know a lot of people use them, since they are closed off and keep off the rain.

Don't laugh, I was thinking about an old camp trailer that has seen better days...now to just talk my hubby into it and then try to figure out how to get it to our property....how fun it would be to decorate it all up on the outside and use the inside as a drying shed and to store rakes, and other garden tools in.
