I really wanted to wait to be able to get some fiber goats but realize that I need some experience with goats first. We have a great overgrowth of foliage that I think would be great for goats. Please let me know if you have any for sale/barter/swap. I don't have a great capacity for transpost since I only have a Ford Focus but will do whatever it takes to get some of those critters to my place. I have a great barn for them to sleep in. Also have chickens and a backyard menagerie of dogs, cats and guinea pigs. Please let me know if you can help me get something that will help with my weeds!

I have been raising fiber goats Angora and Cashmere for 14 years now - all of them organically raised along with Llamas, Alpacas, Icelandic Sheep and Southdown Sheep. Cashmere is a perfect brush goat with a income on their backs. My goats will go in a clean a patch of the worst thistles and harsh brush and come out with perfection of their fiber. Spanish or Boar Goats can be a temperment that is not for the first time owner. I never tie any animal because all can get hurt - what I love about the way I train my goats it they take themselves out and put themselves back in without having to be always fenced in to work. Now I do not recommend that with every goat or goats who are new to your property. I have a working group of Cashmere Billies who each morning take themselves out, eat up around the unfenced portions of my property and forest and when they need their naps, water or evening time they bring themselves back to their pens and shelter and relax. I know that is not the norm for some but for my farm this is the training I do with my animals. Since my goats feel the weeds, thistles and such are the best part I have enjoy watching them do the hard work for me while they feel like they are getting candy...
I also advise me clients to do their homework and ask tons of questions.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I found two pygmy does on craigslist and am very happy with the girls. My youngest son already named them Mustang Sally and Wanda--not sure where he comes up with these but he has always had an interesting slant on naming pets --we have a beagle names Wolfie and a female guinea pig named Jason and a hen who somehow survived an attack from our neighbor's dog that he named Phoenix.
