Is there some old wives' tale about lots of bugs in the house...like does that mean a hard winter, or an early fall, or something? I can't remember a time when we've had so many spiders, ants, house centipedes, earwigs, and pillbugs in our house during the summer. Nothing around the house has changed...can't imagine what is driving all this pestilence into our house! I'm beginning to feel like Job!

I don't know, Jessie Mae, but we've been swamped with spiders, flies and stinkbugs!!! I've never even seen a stinkbug prior to this year... They look like little armor shields with legs - yuck! I went to suck one into the vaccum hose the other day and it flew off the curtain straight at me... I screamed "bloody blue murder," as my Grandma would say, scaring both my son and my poor elderly neighbor outside half to death. I didn't know they FLY! My husband says they've been at every job site he has been to. We usually get spiders this time of year, too, but not like this - and so many different kinds! And the flies - yick! They're all so big and hairy. 'Wonder if that's any indicator of the weather to come, too? It does truly feel like pestilence, though - I love your description! I share your despair! LOL! Hang in there - Nini

Ewwwwwwww! Centipedes in the house. I'd have a hard time with that. However, I'm constantly picking up spiders, if the cats don't get to them first. Marly

Sprinkle borax around the foundation of your house and it will keep the earwigs out. Just keep any pets or kids away from it.

I gave up this fall and had the pest control people come..the spiders and beetles and ants and nameless bugs had taken over the house. Now all is bug free. I normally try the pesticide free way but I had enough of bugs ! I killed off 2 huge ant hills also.
