I find myself every fall pulling "At Home In Mitford" by Jan Karon & re-reading most of that series. Not sure why that is, possibly that fact that I seem to want to draw closer to home as the weather gets cooler & there is just something so "homey" about Mitford. Do any of you have a favorite book that you like to read this time of year? My children seem to drawn to mysteries & magic & ghost stories as the seasons grow cooler.

I love books and reading! My favorites any time of the year are mysteries, but it seems like in the winter and fall I do kind of fall back on the classics. |

I love reading Anne of Green Gables series. I also love Christan fiction books. Hugs, Hannah

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!! |

This time of year I like to read Rural Free by Rachel Peden. It's a journal of a farm year and it begins in September, with school starting. Somehow, it just fits because the first time I found the book and began to read, it was autumn.

Melina -
I hadn't heard of that book! I'll have to look it up, it sounds like a good read!
Hannah - Have you ever read any of Lauraine Snelling's books? She has a number of series and some standalone books and she is a christian book writer.

Hi Ellen, she has a couple other books too, but Rural Free is my favorite. She was a farm-based columnist for newspapers in Indiana for many years and could really get to the heart of country living. She's worth a search at the library.

Hi Melina - I looked her up online and I think I'll track that book down. It sounds really interesting.
Thanks, Ellen |
