Hey ladies!! My name is Najia and as my user name states I am a countrified city girl. My husband is active duty Army so we are currently stationed in Germany and while living in Europe is sort of cool (smile), I cannot wait to return to the US to get my farm girl on. Our post housing consists of living in a stairwell apartment and I hate it. I miss my giant backyard, my garden and chickens!!

I have 4 beautiful kids...the oldest being away at college, the youngest being in 4th grade. We have dogs, cats, and cilantro growing in our windows. I love all things frugal and self sufficient. I am big on organics and while I am not a vegetarian, we eat like it because I refuse to buy factory meat.

I am sure more fun filled facts about me will bubble up as time goes on but for now I just wanted so introduce myself. Nicetameetcha!!

I have a simple philosophy. Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. And scratch where it itches. ~ Alice Roosevelt Longworth

Welcome from Georgia. My brother was in the army and had both his kids there. They fit right in with the blond hair and Schwab last name. They are all here now though. But he loved it over there. I would love to go if I could drive there. So glad ya joined us here.

Kris

Naija----Welcome and when you see German sheep I would love to know what their breed is called, what they look like and if they are long, medium or fine wooled. How exciting for you to be there in Germany.

Lani, in germany the sheep and the cattle are so different and very muscular and fat. That is one of the first things I noticed. You would love it.

Hey Najia,
My mother is from Heilbronn & I was born in Stuttgart.(dad military & married my mom & brought us to the USA)..My couzin Mariam went to University in Heidleberg.
I miss being there and actually my mother & I are headed back in late Spring next year if all goes as planned.
Enjoy your time there and I know what you mean about living in an apt w/a stairwell... only a balcony to step out onto. But you will love the open air markets, bakeries and all the places to go site seeing....
This is a wonderful time of year too, with everyone getting ready for the Fest of the Angels and Winter/Christmas Markets. Oh I can smell the Lebkuchen already.
Lucky you.
Oh and go to see Ludwig's Castle in Wurttemburg come Spring...it is awesome! Oh and head over to Heilbronn and check out the underground salt mine...a lot of valuable historical artifacs where hidden there during the war to safe gard them from looters....
