Hello!

I'm finally getting around to introducing myself after browsing for a bit. My name is Micah and I'm a 25 year old biology student in Austin, TX. My grandfather introduced me to organic gardening when I was very young. He owns an organic plant nursery, specializing in Texas native plants. He also has a small herd of sheep and tons of chickens. So needless to say, I have a huge love of farming!

My passions include gardening, dog training, and falconry. We're renting right now, so all I have is a potted herb garden, but I have big dreams for our future house. My husband promises me lots of land for me to work with as soon as the lease on this house is up! I plan to have chickens, rabbits, quail, and a HUGE garden.

From the moment I opened a Mary Jane magazine (which my grandfather also introduced me to!), I was inspired! I now bake our own bread, shop at local organic farmers markets, and have started cleaning "green."

I love this site and am looking forward to making new friends here!

Welcome from Minnesota, Micah! This is an incredible place. You can learn so much, share so much and enjoy the friendship of wonderful new sisters.
Our neighbor raises native plants, Minnesota style. Will you be working with your grandfather's nursery as well as going to school? Maybe you could tell us more about the plants he grows on the MJF Garden Gate section.
Your potted herbs are a start, you fit right in with many of our farmgirls who are making their plans to get set up with land to farm as well as those who have a start.
It takes quite a while to truely get to know the site, I still keep finding new things. I love the creative blogs, they're a great way to get to know those who have them.
Enjoy!!
Susan

Lifes not about the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.

Just a small town country girl, farmgirl, loggergirl, trying to live her dreams. :)

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!!

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Susan, I used to help out all the time in high school, but my husband and I live a hour away from my grandparents at the moment. But that doesn't stop me from dropping in all the time and gathering me some fresh eggs and raiding his garden!

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Welcome, Micah!!!

Sounds like you've got farming in your blood. What an awesome blessing to have a grandfather like that. I'm sure you cherish all the precious memories you're making.

Can't wait to hear more!!

Blessings!
