Is there a site you could direct me to, that will tell me which essential oil scents are compatible? Also, I was thinking of making my own bath scrub, can I use fragrance oils in place of essential oils?
thanks hugs Jessie

Jess, I make my own bath scrub using olive oil, sugar and epsom salts and add NOW brand aromatherapeutic oils from our local health food store. It works great. What inspired me was that my daughter gave me some very expensive bath scrubs and I loved it. However, I just couldn't afford it and so I played around and figured out that I could make my own.

Am I right ? The recent Cluck from MJ had a good article on making scrubs and bath salts. You might check that out as well. Have fun !!! Hugs, Kristy

Jessie, I wouldn't use fragrance oils. They aren't supposed to necessarily be good for you (just my opinion though). The results will be higher quality if you do use EO's ...

Jess, I use 3 cups epsom salts or 2 cups + 1 cup sugar, 1 cup olive oil and a few drops of aromatherapy oils from the health food store that are all natural. It works great and isn't goopy. I give it as gifts too.

Jess, it sure is not rocket science. And I have not read the cluck yet either but as a massage therapist I am sent recipes for using for scrubs. There is another post going on the forum about scrubs and I had posted on it. That was coffee grounds/olive oil or coconut oil/ hersheys cocoa mix it up and heat it up and apply. It is messy but works well. Actually, caffiene is used for cellulite treatments so ya might want to scrub the coffee one on those thighs.
Also, you can use salt or sea salt though it is more abrasive. Sugar is less and brown sugar is even less. Whichever you will want to mix oil with it. And then you can add essential oils NOT fragrance oils. Or just get into your kitchen. Add some grated orange peel, vanilla, honey, and hersheys cocoa is excellent. Any of it or all of it. Mix cocoa in honey for a facial mask use when nobody is home and there are no cameras. I do not think you want that as your profile pic on FB. Anyway, on soft tender tissue like your face you do not want to be too abrasive- sugars are better. For those dry flakey lips use drop of honey, a bit of baking soda, and some oil. Massage that on your lips.
I used to do one on myself made with malt-o-meal and honey (not for your face) All will make a mess on you so you might want to take you a book in bathroom and scrub while lying in the tub then read a bit and let the oil soak in. Then stand up and shower off. Oh, and no water in the tub for that resting in the tub part.
Maybe that will give you a guide but I am saying some of the fanciest spas get the formulas out of their kitchens.

Jess, I agree with the other gals use good quality essential oils, not fragrence oils. They are on your skin and absorb into your system, so you want natural products. Liz
