Thank you, Sisters, for your continued prayers. We're very thankful for our faith. Amy's been doing pretty good. She's having a some problems with her right hand and coordinating it with her mind to be able to write. That's the only thing we're noticing that's lasting and the doctors said that we'll work with an OT (occupational therapist) more after she has the operation to help with the skills she's lost.
She's scheduled to have surgery on Jan 17th. The two dangers we're aware of is her having another stroke while we wait for the brain swelling to go down. The area of her brain that was affected is right on the surface of where the gross motor skills are and her thinking/memory area is, so if she has another stroke, it could affect her thinking area more deeply & the docs don't know if it'll be permanent or harder to bounce back from. During the surgery, the danger is her having a stroke during the process since they have to clamp off for 2 minutes, stopping the blood flow which can cause a stroke or worse.
We're thankful to have her home and to be surrounded by prayers. We're taking each day, day-by-day.

Amy's doing okay. She's been having a lot of headaches, but doing okay. Very thankful no new strokes. I think the Lovenox shots are helping. Thank you for your prayers. xoxo

Hi Sherry, Amy had a rough day on Monday & thought we'd have to take her back to ER, but after discussing w/neuro docs, we didn't have to. There's a local stroke support group that meets on Saturday at the hospital, so I'll go and check it out. Thanks for asking and caring and for all the prayer support. xoxo

Jewel, you probably are not reading this at the time I am writing this, but want you to know that we are praying for Amy and you all. Praying that the Master Physician of the universe will guide minds, hearts & hands in the Operating Room and recovery, and that Amy may know now that she is loved into healing by her Creator and by those sent to pray and love her. May you feel hugs around you from us farmgirls that stand behind you through this trial.

Amy's surgery went really well. Both neuro teams (pediatric & adult) performed both procedures (direct & indirect) for getting the blood vessels restored. She's doing well. It's been about 8 hrs in surgery & doing the cerebral angiogram to see if the blood is flowing. She's being moved to the recovery room and then eventually adult ICU. We haven't seen her yet. Just wanted to give you all the good news.
Sherry, we went to Dornbecher/OHSU for the surgery.
