Not too sure what to say so I will just blurt out a few things..I live on a 37 acre farm, most of it is woods, but the cleared area around the house, about 3 acres, is home to 3 Percheron draft mares: Trixie and Smoke, 2 Quarter Horses: Lucy and her half brother Terry, an 11 year old Siberian Husky: Dakota, and her aged buddy who is 14, Rocky who is a Malamute/GSD. We also have one house mouse named Tiny whom I saved when I caught her mama in a trap and found the nest. We also have a small flock of chickens, 8 hens: Fancy, Penny, Cagney, Lacy, Callie, Annie, Belle, and Zoe. The 2 roosters, one who was suppose to be a hen but is definitely male are Chief and Pippin.

I hobby farm, each spring and summer growing tomatoes, have wild fruit around our farm, different herbs, though this year I am going to do a raised bed to plant things in, as well as lettuces, carrots for the horses, and plants in the boxes in front of the house and under the hay rake out front.

We also do a lot of public events, shows, weddings and family gatherings with our draft mares. We love to share our hobby of draft horses with others and our mares are very laid back and kind.

That is us in a nutshell, our farm is aptly named "Going Grey Farm". I really can't wait to get to know others, learn from others, hopefully help, and gain new friends.

Thank you Lessie...aren't Siberian Huskies the clowns of the dog world? Dakota is very vocal, very mouthy, we sometimes fondly call her "hoover" as come dinner time, she is under the table waiting!! How old is yours?

She will be five in March. She is the sweetest dog but when she wants to go, she is gone! Saylor was very easy to train. She has killed some of the chickens, so we just keep her in when they are out. She also refuses to be a watch dog. She sure can "talk" though!

LOL yes they can. My old dog, Rocky, likes to mosey around with me, he is slow so I let him take his time while I do what I need to do. He has never been one to wander off and loves to watch us as I think he still feels useful, and I don't mind the company.

Cari Lynn,

I am SO jealous of where you live. My husband is from Virginia and has family in West Virginia. I, however, am a Texas girl. I had never been East in my life until recently. Now I'm completely in love with both states. I want to move. NOW!!

I'm familiar with Harrisonburg, VA, Sugar Grove, WV, and Franklin, WV. I just don't like crossing the mountain going back and forth. I get a little car sick.

Your farm sounds splendid!

Hi, Cari! I look forward to meeting you. I haven't been out to the garden recently, what with all the snow & ice, but last time I looked, one of my raised beds was still hosting carrots from last summer's planting. If that still holds true, next time I get a chance to see you, I'll pull up a bunch for the horses :)

Hi Cari,
I have such wonderful memories of VA, WVA from my vacations to friends in MD. I love Harpers Ferry and Williamsburg! If I could travel again I'd sure go back to both places.

Welcome from a Florida farmgirl at heart! Check out my farmgirl website www.sunshinefarmgirlcoop.com

Welcome Cari,
Your mares sound wonderful! I love the big drafts. We don't see too many of em around here, some of the ranches still feed cows in the winter with horse drawn sleighs. I was lucky enough to meet up with a local electrician who has Clydesdales. They were awesome!

Your place sounds beautiful!

A big Nevada welcome,

Alicia

Hi Cari and welcome from East Texas. I fell in love with Virginia while my son was in graduate school at UVA. He lives there now with his family so I visit as often as possible. What part of the state are yo in. He lives in Carrollton, just outside Newport News. You're going to love it here.
