We got to talking to the lady who runs the gym we work out at, and found out she's been raising dairy goats for 30 years!! We are so excited to have her for help and assistance in our spring adventure.

iT IS A WONDERFUL THING TO have a mentor when you start. Ask questions-it really does help.

I am taking care of my sister's goats while she is in college and now I am hooked! Its so neat to find out how many other people have goats too! Before we moved I was meeting goat people left and right! Now its time to start over and find some more! Whenever I have a question on the goats I call my sister since she knows more than I do on goats! Once our dog got loose while we were gone and for whatever reason dragged 50 pounds of grain over to the fence which the 4 adult goats and 1 doeling finished off. When I got home I thought they were going to pop, I was so scared! I gave them baking soda water and they are all fine today! That was so scary! I couldn't believe the dog would do something like that! Partners in crime! The shed was closed so he had to dig underneath the door, drag the bag through his hole (50 pounds!) and drag it about 10 feet to the fence... That dog!

I wonder what your goats promised your dog??? That silly dog...
Glad your goats where O.K. - I have any grain on my farm kept in huge metal drums locked behind gates but it sounds like with your clever dog there will need to be even more security...

Exciting that you found a mentor because that is key for all of us no matter how long we have been caring for animals. Good luck and enjoy every minute.

Yes, I know several others around here that have goats. And believe me, I call if I need help. And come on here and ask questions. There are so many that know so much. I get all the advice and help I need.

We are raising goats. We just had another kidding session that was a tough one. It is such a great learning experience for me, the kids, etc.

We LOVE the goats though and have 6 new kids to love up and learn along side.

Good luck on you experience.

Kristina, that is awesome! Like the other girls said, it is a good thing to have someone with more experience to help you out when you need it. :) It's a blessing for sure!

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!!
