Hi there!!

I'm pretty new here and just wanted to formally introduce myself after lurking for awhile.

I live in central Wisconsin, a mother of three and wife to Dale for the last 8 years. I have been blessed to be able to stay home since my second child was born. Now that the youngest is in school I have a bit of free time during the day.

Since last year I have caught a serious case of Barnheart and keep trying to turn our 2.5 rural acres into a hobby farm. Much to my husbands chagrin I might add! Last spring I did manage to get a chicken coop and small flock of hens. We are loving the fresh eggs and have enough to share with family. I also have a few rabbits to breed for meat. We are raising American Blues and Whites. I'd love to add a few goats too, but haven't gotten an approval on that one... yet! ; )

I have loved browsing the forums here and have gotten a lot of great tips. I can't wait to try making my own laundry soap next! I have already learned how to make my own bar soap and love it. After getting over using lye it wasn't so bad. I like the crock pot hot process method as I have never been good about waiting.

One more thing I have done last year is found a way to make homemade bread that is actually edible. I had tried lots of methods and the only one to consistently work for me is the no knead method. Turns out wonderfully every time! Nothing better than the smell of fresh bread from the oven!

Well thanks for letting me introduce myself.

And a big thanks to you all for such a wonderful place!!

I am having a WI/IL get together on Saturday the 29th in Mukwonago. How far is that from you?

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Edgar is just west of Wausau, so not close to you :( I'll be in Minocqua scrapbooking that weekend as well.

I do hope to find some more Farmgirls closer to me though!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

Hello Casie! I am new also, so much to read and see and well, just so much to enjoy. I am an elementary school librarian and school was closed today due to the blizzard. I just joined MaryJanesFarm and love what I have come across.Great to be a farmgirl!

May you always have a soft breeze in summer, a warm fireside in winter, work for your hands, and the loving smile of a friend close by.

Welcome Casie! May I ask what the no knead method for bread is? Would you share your recipe?

Jeanne ~ we were lucky to not get any of that big storm up our way this time! Hope they get things cleaned up there soon!

Linda ~ I used the recipe here.

If you google no knead bread you will get lots of sites talking about it! I hope you try it!

Welcome from another Wisconsinite! I'm just outside Milwaukee :) My family has a cabin at Lake Arrowhead outside Wisconsin Rapids...that sounds like your area-ish

Lynn, Yes that is the area I grew up in!! I lived just a couple miles from Lake Arrowhead!

Now I'm about 1 1/2 hours north of there closer to Wausau, but all my family is still in that part of the state.
