This is my first night on the Farmgirl Connection, and I'm having a great time looking around. So thrilled to see so many kindred spirits.

I live in a big red barn in the small town of Portales. I love the simple pleasure in life and am delighted to write about them. I hope you'll have a little time to have a look at 'my field days' on the high plains of Eastern New Mexico.

Delighted to be here!
Sandy

Welcome Sandy :) My parents are dreaming of retiring to their dream ranch in New Mexico. They are thinking the Clovis area. It's beautiful and one of the few states I've visited.

Oh my! Grinning from ear to ear. Fun to pop over this morning and see the "welcomes". Viggie.. I live in "the Clovis area"! Portales is 15 miles away. Have a look at my blog, and click on the "Portales" category for heartwarming little tales about the incredibly good and kind people in our area!

Fiddlehead Farm.. I love your "signature"!

Thanks again for the kind "welcomes" from everyone!
Sandy

Hi, Sandy. Another welcome, this one from Oregon. New Mexico has always been an exotic place to me. I have read all the Tony Hillerman books and I think the Kevin Kearney series is set there. Unfortunately, the only time I've visited was on the Southwest Chief. We were able to detrain in Albuquerque for a few minutes.

Traildancer, I hope you'll be able to spend some time in the "Land of Enchantment" sometime... more than just a train stop. Really an amazing variety of landscapes. My great-grandparents came in covered wagons to homestead here, so the land is in my heart and soul.

Hi Sandy! I was just checking out your blog and love your recent post about how spoiled our ancestors would think we are. That old stove in your photo is awesome, by the way!

Thanks for reading the blog Sue. I may have gotten a little preachy on that one... but I was growing weary of the attitude (especially from some of my younger Facebook 'friends') in our recent cold spell. I hope we never forget just how incredibly tough those pioneers were. I'm so proud of them!!

The old stove was a gift from a friend. What a gift!! She'd had it for years, and thought it belonged on the porch of my red barn. Everyone loves it!! Especially me.
