I remembered years and years ago that I wore wrap skirts... in the 70's. While I loved the ease of wearing them but was always embarrassed when a wind or something would cause the flap to flap open. So I used hook and eyes to help stop that.. but then I stopped wearing them because they were more of a nuisance than enjoyment!
Well.. I have been searching hard... and long for something better. I am planning a trip to Washington to see family.. packing only a carry on... so multi-use of clothing is the appeal at the moment.
I am in love!!! YES!!! Now I need to get that craft-room of mine organized in a hurry and sew.. and sew....
two skirts.. maybe three will be perfect for a month.. since they are REVERSIBLE!!!! three skirts become six... SIX different skirts!!!
whoooo hooooooo!!!

That is super cute - thanks for sharing that!! Where in Washington are you going, of course I'm assuming you're talking the state and not D.C. - and you know what happens when you assume:) Amy Grace

Wow! Thanks so much for posting this link! I'm an all-skirts-and-dresses girl so these are right up my alley. Think of the possibilities for traveling. Less clothes to pack in the suit case! I'm hitting up some giant thrift stores that I've never been to on Thursday, I'll be keeping my eyes open for some vintage sheets to up-cycle in to these skirts. Peas, Eriko |

I love wrap skirts too,I have alot of them because my friend owns an Indian import shop so I've had a good source of them,I have sewn them too, just using a basic circle skirt pattern and sewing on a waistband. I did have an embarassing accident once with a wrap skirt,I was standing in line one day at the grocery store when all of a sudden,it got a bit "breezy",I look down and realized that my skirt had come untied and was in a pile around my ankles,I was standing in line in my tank top and happy bunny panties! I love wrap skirts but sometimes they can be perilous to wear,I recommend the use of safety pins!

Kathryn,I feel for you I once had one blow right open lol..also While my DH and I were just dating I went to visit him and brought my dog..well we had to keep him out of the kitchen so we put up a doggy gate...needless to say I stepped over the gate the skirt got hooked and down it came in front of his dinner guests!! AHHHHHHHH that was 13 years ago lol and I still giggle about his friends seeing my super woman undies lol..what else can you do..just laugh it off hahahahaha
Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused:) |

So cute! Thanks for posting this link! Two skirts in one! Double the church clothes in half the time! Bookmarks and going fabric shopping!
The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Love that skirt! I'm thinking knee length for summer, longer for spring. Maybe eyelet for the top layer? Can't wait to start playing around with the idea! |

..if doing eyelet... be sure you have another layer behind it or it'll reveal you!
you have two rectangle fabrics sewn on the sides, then from side towards where hip/waist begins (you stop here!!!) and to wear it.. you "STEP" in between the two fabrics and tie. ...unless you wear a slip, your undies may show

hey Karrieann, I luv'd wrap skirts too! I made an ankle length 'coulotte' type wrap skirt/pant back in the '70's you stepped into the center, wrapped the front around to the back and then the back to the front & instant long pant/coulotte skirt....not sure what it was called but it was cool and easly to make. Hmmm I will have to see if I can find my old pattern in my stash.
