My grandfather of nearly 93 years old passed away past Nov.
I have been having a real hard time. This month (February) is being harder than when he died. He and I used to share our birthdays together... his on the fifth and mine on the third.
My home is in shambles for I have no desire to do anything... but I really need to clean up my home.. totally unfair to hubby, even though he hadn't said anything in regards to the disheveled state of our home.

I need prayers more than I'll ever know.. I dislike to ask for prayers... but this agony of the pain of the emptiness and the near non-stop of flowing of tears...

gah!

Sorry... I didn't even mean to type this but I am here nonetheless

50 years of him and now no more

I'm so sorry, Karrieann...that's a long time to share your life with someone and not expect to mourn their loss so completely. I miss my Grandmother every single day, and she's been gone nearly 6 years, now.

Give yourself the time you need--you know your husband understands. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Karrieann, I am so sorry. I have lost all my grandparents. It is hard. I miss them all so much. I will be praying for you too. And sending hugs your way. You should try to come up for the Southern farmgirls get together the 26th. That should take your mind off things for awhile. Just come up and have fun with us.

Kris

Karrieann, I am so sorry that you are going through all this grief. It is hard, and takes different forms for everyone. When I lost my father, even though I had others around me, I could not get over the loss. It was a doctor friend who asked if I had seen "somebody?" I knew he meant a doctor or a counselor. Even though it was hard to put one foot in front of another, I saw a doctor. He gave me a very mild antidepressant. I fought doing that, but it helped me to think more clearly and realize I had others who missed my Daddy too and I must try to do things for the kids even though I grieved. I'm not saying it is your answer, but it was the beginning of seeing some light. I knew that doing this did not diminish my love and respect for my dad, but that he would want me to live for those he also cared about. My prayers for you.

It's only been 3 months. It's going to take some time. My mother died almost 6 years ago, my Grandma and Great Aunt a year later. In fact, in 18 months I had 10 family members and friend pass away. It takes as long as it takes. You are blessed to have such a patient husband. Give yourself the time and grace that you need to grieve.

I'm sure the love and connection was mutual. You wouldn't have wanted him to suffer as you are now and I'm sure he wouldn't want you to let your life be so filled with grief for his passing. Try to look more for the joy of the memories of shared times. Do some things he loved to do with you but now draw in others to share them, friends, younger relatives, a little sister from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. Make new memories in his honor.
I'll be praying for your strength to return and for you to feel his spirit in your connections with others. As much as you needed him, there are others who need you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandfather. All of my grandparents as well as my father are in heaven. I miss my father most of all every day. Maybe just find a way to allow yourself to cry and express your grief, I used to go the the park on my lunch hour from work and walk and cry. Be patient with yourself

I'll be praying for you, too, Karrieann. I've been there, too. In time, it will get easier. You just have to try every day to find a little more strength and do just one thing more than you did the day before. Your Grandpa would want you to be living your life well, and enjoying all the good things. He'd want his memories to comfort you, bring you smiles and fill your heart with his love. I know because that's how my Grandpa would want me to be living my life now that he's gone. Missing your Grandpa's presence now that he is physically gone - yeah, that's tough to get through. But you must remember that the strong bond of love you shared in this life truly never dies. He sees you from where he is and he still delights in you. I like to think of my Grandpa and Grandma as my biggest cheering section in Heaven. There your Grandpa can do so much more on your behalf than he could ever have done when he was here. You may not see him, but I am sure you still feel him in your heart. Treasure that. Let that feeling bring you peace. That part of him which remains in your heart will never leave you. It's okay to go on and live your life - he's still there, just not in the same way he used to be. Try to be patient with yourself as you begin to heal from his loss, and try to seek for yourself small successes every day until you feel stronger. Honest, it will get better. It just takes time. God bless your heart. - Nini

Karrieann, Prayers going up for you! I am so very sorry for your loss. It seems impossible right now, but in time, although still painful, some of the memories you cherish will bring a smile to your face. Try as best you can to hold onto the great memories. Grandparents can be an absolute joy and losing them is so very, very hard. Praying for your peace and comfort.

Blessings, Linda
