So, for the birth of my daughter, my mom and I made a hospital gown. I took the pattern linked from this site:

It was such a huge hit! I made mine out of a black fabric with small pink polka-dots, and we put a ruffle (WHAT A PAIN!) on the bottom. The ruffle probably took more time than the gown itself! My poor mom HAD to have the ruffle fall "Just so". LOL. I bought some pre-made bows that matched pink ribbon, and safety pinned one on the bottom near the ruffle. The ribbon went around my waist, and it was so cute. We even made a headband and attached the other bow to it to keep my hair back. Every nurse coming on-shift came in to see it! If you have a loved one going in for surgery, or that is going to have a baby I HIGHLY recommend making them a gown. It was so nice not having to wear their gowns. I was able to put velcro on instead of ties, and felt much prettier. Feeling pretty made me feel more confident and helped add such a special touch to the whole event.

Laurie, Binsi is the name of this company a gal started to do mother-friendly birth clothes that don't make you feel like you're in a hospital. I got one of their skirts... you can check them out here: http://www.birthinbinsi.com/index.htm
I thought they were super cute and comfy, and they're long enough to cover all the essentials even if you want to get on all fours, use a birth ball, etc.

I am due in July... My daughter recently had a 3 day trip to the hospital (bad case of the flu) and I took one of her little hospital gowns. I am going to use hers as a base pattern for my own. I figured its the same thing but bigger.

The pattern I linked too is really easy as well. You can make it as "pretty" as you'd like, but I really enjoyed the snaps in the back and shoulders (Instead of the ties). I felt much more covered up.

adorable! I just don't see how to just don't see how to nurse in it?
I am also in the middle of making myself some gowns for my hospital stay! But, they are designed for nursing. The one you posted is absolutely adorable though. I wish it was a nursing one.

It has snaps on the top of the sleeves, so you're able to unsnap the arm and fold it down for nursing! :) Also, once you're done popping that baby out, you want to be in NORMAL clothes! (ie: PJ's!) I just wore really loose T-shirts with my nursing bra underneath. My "Girls" were too big for the nursing tanks. They looked "Hoochie"-ish on me.

yeah I know what you mean, I can't wear nursing tanks either! lol haha In fact, I have to order nursing bras from europe the american nursing bra companies only go up to like F or something. And I'm a II or J cup depending on manufacturer.
The gown is super duper cute. lol Just wouldn't do me much good for just the delivery. We are wham bam and baby is here. This is my fourth pregnancy. My longest labor was I think 20 minutes, it may of lasted 30 though. It went by so fast, I really don't remember. and that was the longest one! lol hahaha Number two, I didn't even know I was in labor, well I mean my water broke, I called the dr, he said to go to the hospital, I went in but they had no labor rooms empty so they put me in the monitoring room where they do the NSTs. And they kept saying a dr would be in to examine me, and kept asking me if I was in pain (and I wasn't), but I told them I felt no pain during labor. Apprently they didn't believe me! The dr would come in get a phone call and say he would be back! Finally he said sorry he was here this time to actually examine me. Lifted up my gown and my son literally flew out! The doctor screamed, OMG she just delivered! The nurse was had literally just turned her head the other way and had missed the whole thing! And said what? NO! Can't be! She said she wasn't in pain! Why didn't you say you were in pain. Um.......cause I wasn't! And I told you pain was no indication that I was in labor or not! UHG! lol haha Um, so I call that um zero minutes of labor. I didn't even know! Except my water breaking. Thankfully it was baby number two or I would of swore I peed on myself and would of probably had a home delivery! lol hahaha Number three the same, no one believing I was in labor......no labor....lol haha So I wouldn't even have time to probably put the gown on, unless I wore it at home the week I thought I was expecting! lol haha However, I do like to wear nursing gowns at the hospital cause of my crazy deliveries they always put the babies in NICU for observation, which means me walking half the hospital each time for nursing. So I don't like having to unsnap and stuff cause in nicu every one is watching your every move while you nurse. lol So I guess I will keep on with the nursing night gowns I am making for the event. lol haha
