I got an email yesterday from my friend in Thailand, about my brother. I had not heard from him in a while, so was worried, we always email back and forth...all the time. But the past week I didn't hear, emailed questions about why and just didn't get an answer....till yesterday. The reason was....my brother had been in the hospital! He was not feeling well and was takinga nap on his sofa. His cleaning lady was there and when she came into the l.room she found him on the floor, he had fallen off the couch and was unconscious! She immediately called the hospital, they send down an ambulance straight away....friends went with him. He was taken into the ICU, (he was awake again ) did all kinds of tests because they suspected a bloodcloth in his brains. But that was not the case PTL!! Was given an IV with fluids, meds and they did more tests. Friend told me they thought it was stress-related....but are still not sure. They did more tests but still don't know WHAT happened. He spend some time in the hosp. just to make sure all was fine. He is home now.....and as far as I know doing fine??
PLEASE may I ask prayers that all will be good, that this doesn't happen again (it HAS happened to him quite a few time when he was still living in my country, also had a lot of tests but they didn't find out what it was then either)
I am kinda glad she (friend) didn't tell me before yesterday, I woud have been more upset and worried if she had, than I am already :( She told me NOT to worry, brothers partner was with him day and night in the hosp. friends were with him often, and they will keep a watchful eye in him. I AM worried ofcourse and scared. he is my only living relative left and I love him SO much.
Thanks girls.

Oh my gosh... I will pray, Marian. How scarey! It is so hard to be so far away when our loved ones are ill. I'm sure that even though he's doing better you're worried. I'll be praying for you, too, sister! Hugs - Nini

Marian, I am so glad they found out what it is and maybe they can get him on some kind of medication to treat it or at least help him. You are a good sister.

Prayers out to your brother. My Mom has Meniers and it can be awful. She gets vertigo and nausious and has ended up in the hospital a couple of times. There is some good information on the web, but sadly no cure. It is controlable though.

Dutchy, it must be hard to have your only sibling so far away. It is so good that it is Meniere's and not something more serious. I presume that medications are similar there to those we have in the states and your country. When I first read the note, I worried about him being alone and just being found by the cleaning lady. I'm so glad that he has a good support network, because that is half the battle.
I hope that you are doing better & can relax a bit. It is always so good to read your posts. You are always so helpful to those posing questions. It is good for me personally to be able to do something for you. Will continue in prayer.

You know, maybe today is double hard because our oldest brother (who passed away 4 yrs ago) would have been 66 today. Maybe THAT triggered the extra worry-wart in me, who knows. But yesClaudia, he is getting meds now and they are just as good as in the USA and here, so that is good. And YES PTL it is not something serious, I am happy for that as well.

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!! |

God healed me of that horror. I also could not take the anti-nausea medication and still work as it put me to sleep. Not to mention that my husband was dying and I had to work and take care of him. I found the original ReliefBand which this replaces. http://www.aeromedixrx.com/Reletex-Anti-Nausea-Device.html it produces a very low level electric shock which disrupts the nausea message your nerves are sending to your brain. I keep it around just in care this misery tries to creep back. It stops it cold. I see that they now require a prescription. Ah how they always want their cut.

Well, at least now they know what it is and can help accordingly. How awful to go all those years without a diagnosis so it keeps happening. Glad he will be on the road to mending!

Actually one of the main things that they do for it is to sever the nerves in the ear which leaves you deaf. I prefer a tiny electric shock that is barely noticeable to deafness. There is really no cure for it according to the Drs here.

dutchy Sending prayers across the pond to both of you. My current fave singer Kristin Chenoweth has Menieres. She has had to miss performances, & I notice that many times when she is singing she will have something to lean on. I saw her in NYC on Broadway in Novemeber & at the stage door we were all taking pics. Her bodyguard was yelling "NO FLASH!!" I had already snapped many with flash & feel bad because I found out later that the flashing light gives her pains! Anyway, she was the 1st person I had ever heard of with this disorder & now your brother... With the diagnosis will hopefully come some relief! |
