I am completely new to all of this, and am so excited. I accompanied my sis-in-law to the initial meeting of a new farm girl chapter in this area, and had the BEST day! We started at a State Park, toured the water falls, went to a great restaurant for a tasty lunch, followed by a leisurely trip through an antique mall, and finished the day with a visit to one of the ladies' farms to help slop the hogs, feed the chickens, goats, turkeys and cow. It was a GREAT way to spend a day, and a wonderful group of ladies who all had similar interests and philosophies about how we want to live on this earth.
Now that Spring is coming, I am itching to start a compost pile and get some dirt under my fingernails!

Hi Pam & Welcome from Pa.:) I think you will like it here as well ;)I tried to join a local chapter but have not gotten an answer & it has been at least a month, thinking about emailing again, though.

Welcome Pam, I know you will like it here. I love reading all the farm stories here and the friends I have made here. I have alot of friends here in Florida where I live but still sometimes felt a little lost. They are always inviting me to go out places with them and most the time I go. But sometimes I will tell them No I have to stay home and work in my garden or go get hay for my cows
or I am going to sew today. They will say to me why do you do all of that farming stuff. We all know you don't have to. I try to explain to them how it makes me feel to dig in the earth or the smell of the animals. It makes my heart happy to use my hands and help others and spend quality
time with my family. The ladies on Maryjanesfarm know that same feeling and make me feel at home here. They inspire me to continue to be who I am and whom I was born to be. I hope we bring that same inspiration and feeling to you. Welcome, Welcome..

Mula May!! Heeeeeeeeeeeey :-) so glad to see you on here. I have been checking to see when you would be up and running... We sure did have a great time the other day. I am going to try and put together something in April for us again. Brandon was reading your post and i scroled down to fast and he got upset... He's all "what i don't know your farmgirls secret hand shake?" I started laughting and said thats right. So he tryed to call you. Said my sister will tell me what it is :-) Good thing you did not answer ;-). Any who welcome and enjoy!!!

I am new to MJF forum too! Just starting to get the hang of blogging. I am looking forward to finding a farmgirl chapter in my area. It is heartening to read your email about your first farmgirl chapter meeting. I am sure that soon- that will be me! Have a great day.
