I found your magazine on a mini vacation in Mo. It spoke to me and my lifestyle. My husband & I moved from Florida (suburbs) to Mountain View Arkansas 5 years ago. I love my 3+ acres and little cabin style house. I am growing a large organic garden--getting some planted now. In this small town everyone knows you and you know everyone. In the summer, the town square is a big street fair where everyone gathers to play bluegrass, gospel, and old time music. We get our ice cream and walk around visiting. I work at the Ozark Folk Center. I have a little shop in the craft village where I sew old time style clothing. I also dance in many of the evening programs, and my husband dances, calls the square dances, MC's, and is stage manager (not all at the same time). We live a simple life where we try not to consume more than we really need. There are a lot of like-minded people here, so it is a good place for us to live. I hope to get inspiration and ideas from this site. I intend to offer my 2 cents worth when I can. Gail------ Pasthymes Fashions-- |

Welcome to the group, Gail! It sounds like you live in a great community. What style of clothing do you sew for you shop? How exciting to be able to listen to live music in the summer. What do you do at the Ozark Folk Center? It sounds like it would be a really neat job.
Blessings, Sheri

Hi Gail! Welcome from extreme South Arkansas! It's nice to see our state mentioned! You sound like you have my dream job. My husband and I were in your area last summer and enjoyed some of the bluegrass music on the square one night in Mountain View. I would love to do some of the workshops at the Folk Center. Anyway - welcome to the forum - I hope you enjoy it here!

Welcome Pasthyme! I am also a new farmgirl, from Montana. I also enjoy doing things the the "old fashioned" way. I have never took to sewing, but soon that will all change now that I have MJF's sewing book. Oh, I went to school in Carbondale, Ill. Instead of attending graduation ceremonies, a group of friends floated the Eleven Point River in northern Arkansas. It was quite memorable and much more fun than a ceremony. Really beautiful country. Looking forward to hearing from you and your adventures in old time music. (I have a 78 record player that gets a lot of use!) Love ya, Graycat |
