Hi Ladies!

If you all wouldn't mind giving a few prayers that I quickly recover from this current illness and that I then stay healthy. I can't be sick for my surgery or they won't do it and I desperatly need the surgery done. Over time my tonsils have swollen to the point where they almost touch my uvula even when I am not sick. When I am sick I often have a hard time breathing past them. Also overtime my sense of smell has faded and I pretty much can't smell anything that is further than 3 inches from my nose. And even then it has to be very strong smelling for me to smell it.

I am terrified of surgery. I know in all reality it is not that big of a deal and they do hundreds of these surgeries each month. That being said- I have NEVER had surgery before. I think my fears are that I will have a bad reaction to the anethesia and not wake up. That terrifies me.

So any prayers for health and you know...me waking up from surgery ;) would be greatly appreciated!!

Will do! You will feel like a new woman post recovery! It will be worth it. Something medical folks sometimes forget to tell patients is that you will feel kinda drug out for 6 weeks post op. Not really a bad feeling, just kinda not yourself. It's the body's response to anesthesia/stress. Keep an eye on the calendar and 6 weeks to the day you will say "Oh! I feel like me again!"
Wish you the best!

Alee,
I know it is scary being put under...but most people are just fine with it. It is kind of cool, you don't feel anything and then you wake up and it's over! Prayers out to you sweety, it will be wonderful once you are all done and healed.

Okay, I'm the queen of surgery. I just survived one after Lyme and that is huge for me. Of course, I had my homeopathic check to see what anestectic I could have.
I had my first surgery at 4, I tripped over the table leg and cut two little fingers almost off.
Then, at 6 I had a major surgery, bounced back in about 2 weeks. Didn't notice much just rested until Mom said I could play again about 1 month later.
Then at 12 and 23. The tonsils came out at 23. Now, I'm allergic to sodium penithol and started to throw up after I came to, so we learned not to have that again. But, I slept the entire day after the morning surgery and came home that night.
I could not talk for three weeks afterward and had to eat jello and broth for two weeks. Don't know if the diet is the same or not. This was 25 years ago.
Ice cream made mucus and would get caught in my throat so I don't know how on earth the kids can eat it.
Then once I could eat it still had to be soft, nothing thick like mashed potatoes. Nothing like nearly choking to death in a public restraunt on old folks food. We went to a place that mostly served the elderly since everything would be soft we thought it would be perfect. lol
But, after all was said and done I never got sore throats again and my sense of smell is stronger now than ever. I wish I would have lost mine. hehe!
Just follow the direction they send home and you'll be fine. If you want anymore of what to expect just email me. I'm a firm believer in knowing the possibilities and be prepared to handle what may come.
Since you've had a baby you may have experienced some other things that happen to the body that may happen again.

You'll be in our thoughts. Everyone has really good input. You'll be so glad you did it and it will take a bit for your body to get back to normal. Take care...

Alee--it's very common to worry about the anethesia. I've had several surgeries, and now, the only thing I worry about is saying something weird when I'm waking up:) You'll feel much better afterwards and I've found the effects of the anethesia only last a few days. Just don't try to drive for at least 48 hours after the operation---your sense of judgement will be altered for a day or two. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Alee, I know what you mean. I will be praying for strength and that this fear will be taken from you. You will feel so much better after it's over. I know you have helped me before with my fears. I know you can do this because you want to be healthy and well again. You can do this!! I just had that awful colonoscopy and came through just fine. So you can do this. We are all pulling for you! And praying for you.

Alee, My positive thoughts are being sent to you as I type this. You will be fine and will be so much happier once this is taken care of.
Understandably you are nervous, but put your trust in God and know that everything will be just fine. And just think- your sense of smell and probably taste will be 100% just in time for the summer season of all the wonderful fresh fruits and veggies from the gardens.
