I have lost my jar lifter and have limped along all winter, burning my fingers, but now that spring is here, I really need one. When I look for them in the store, it's just as part of a set and it's more $$ than I want to pay (I don't need the other items!) If anyone has one they'd like to trade, I'd love it! Thanks in advance! :)

Okay Sheila you are talking about the jar lifter for lifting your jars out of the canner right? Just want to be sure as I have not canned in a long time. I do have one and if I can find it you can have it, I will look and let you know.

Oh Shiela, I could not find the lifter, it could still be packed away somewhere. But, I sure will keep my eyes open when I go to Goodwill and to yard sales this weekend.

I found one at a True Value store in their canning section.

We just bought one for my mother-in-law at Walmart. They had a canning section, and you can just get that one piece. Also saw them at Ace Hardware.

We just got 2 Menard's here in Wichita and they are a steal on canning supplies. I bought a lot of the 1/2 gallon jars to make ginger bugs, and Kombucha.

well I went ahead and bought one for more than I wanted to pay, but it's one of those things I have to have...we're butchering tonight and lots of canning coming up. My fingers can't stand too much more :)

I friend uses one of those silicone oven mitts. She just reachs in, and graps the jar. Also, she uses it for corn on the cob, that she boils!!!
