Last pay period she got in 110 hours and now she gets hauled on the carpet for being insensitive to coworkers and clients because she was trying to adhere to the policy and procedure manual, and they promptly haul her in to do another 48 hours with 3 hours sleep. She is a type 1 diabetic and is getting more worn down by the day. Please pray for strength and excellent health for her so that she can work this matter out. I know He has something in mind and good will come of it if she can just walk it out. The reason that she went into social work in the first place was to help people. No one else has ever accused her of being insensitive.

Where I work, the social workers work very hard. I don't think saying 'no' is in their personality. Prayer out to your daughter, Carol
....it's what's inside a women, when she's up against the land.

Cherime~ Did her boss give her any indication who called her insensitive or why? I've worked with a lot of social workers and have yet to meet one that I wold call insensitive. Usually it is ust the opposite - which is why they burn out quickly! She has to draw the line somewhere with her boss. It seems to me like he/she is asking too much of her. her health needs to come first. Tha being said, I will be praying for and sending thoughts of strength to your DD.

Cherime - I am so very sorry to read of you Daughter's situation. I know how hard it is to be a social worker and the environment that they have to deal with daily. I will keep her in my loving thoughts and prayers and please tell her from me that I appreciate the kindness and hard work that she gives everyday. Blessings to her.

So sorry! I know first hand type 1 diabetes is very hard on a body.
I also know from many friends that Social Work is a really stressful job with high turn over rate.
About 20 years ago, I had a friend telling me she was going to school to be a social worker. I remember asking her if she was sure that's what she wanted to do. And I told her how extremely stressful it was. She got a little upset with me, and said something to the effect of she understood all that and this is what she wanted. Long story short, she went through years of school to become a social worker. And I think she actually worked as a social worker less years then she went to school to become one. Later she told me it was just too stressful for her and she had to change careers. This is just not uncommon. We for sure need social workers no doubt! But, our system is so messed up and broken when it comes to this that it just seems to be too stressful for most people to keep as a long term career.

They told her that she didn't understand how it felt to be in an abusive relationship. She told them she was in one for 10 years. Her boyfriend shot himself in the head while in the same room as she was. He turned his back and left it up to God if the bullet went through him and then into her. She had a baby and the placenta separated in the eighth month, so she had to give birth to a still born. They do not "know" anything. She was depressed for several years. They said she should be more supportive. What they are doing is encouraging the clients to sit around the tv and do nothing all day but eat junk food and they will take care of the kids and everything else so the ladies do not need to do anything. Every woman needs nurturing coming out of that type of situation but, they need to start making an effort, taking small steps toward independence and they are not fostering that at all. I also think this is a war of attrition because they know she is a believer. Next Monday she will have a 24 hour shift and has to do modules on sensitivity training with the male head honcho as well on her off hours. They are lucky she has not become ill over this.

I am sorry Cherime. How hard this must be on your dear daughter. I am praying for wisdom for her superiors and that they too would adhere to policy. I am praying that your daughter would get the rest that she needs and be refreshed for each work day. I am also praying for strength for her both physically and mentally.

Being social work is something I could NEVER do. I just don't have the heart for it. Thank God for women like your daughter who DO, and bully to the people who criticize her for trying to follow the rules! I hope everything works out for her! My parents and grandparents have diabetes, so I know how difficult that came make things. I pray that her employers will be more sensitive to her needs.

Thanks all for the encouragement. God is keeping her going but I am praying for change as I know He has something good for her. She does so enjoy helping others.
