As a yearly tradition, my ex-husband and I started 10 years ago, a group of 40-50 people go on a 4 day camping trip every July. It's at a great lake called Camp Far West. For the last 6 years, I have been with my DH, and he is too uncomfortable to go, or allow me to go w/o him. I understand his position, but miss the trip, and all of my mutual friend families that continue to go every year. My 13 year old DS and 7 year old DD, do however, go with their father.
My ex loves the kids, but is not mature or responsible. There is a lot of drinking, and jet skiing, and boating, and campfires.... I only allow my kids to go because my best friend Shawna(my best friend married my ex's best friend, lol) mother of three, goes too. I hate putting this responsibility on her, but she loves my kids too, and says she truely doesn't mind. I just worry. In a worrier by nature. I try to hold on to the promise "He will watch over your comings and your goings..." And pray, a lot. I would greatly appreciate if you would pray for them and that they will have a great time, AND be safe while out there. They are leaving today, and will be returning on Tuesday of next week. Thanks so much ladies! &hearts.

Annette~ I am sending prayers your way. I am sure they will be safe - your friend will make sure of that. Too bad your DH won't go - it sounds like a very fun time plus there are so many people - he could steer clear of your ex - at the very least he should encourage you to go - it is horrible to be at home and worrying about your kids!

Thanks so much gals. I keep working on my DH, trying to convince him to go. It really is a great time. Some of the single men that go are such obnoxious drunks; he just has a hard time around them. He has never said I couldn't or shouldn't go, he just doesn't like the idea. I wouldn't have to fight to go, I just hate upsetting him. Maybe one year....*sigh* I'm glad my friend goes, so my kids get to experience the whole group outing. I know they will be safe, I have complete faith. The prayer just seals the deal for me, and helps me not sit here wringing my hands for the week! Lol.

Sending prayers for children's safety and for you!
Have you thought of beginning a new tradition? a camping trip where you are now and with the special people in your present life?
Just a thought!

Hey Darlene, Thanks for the email earlier, you're so sweet! We do go camping in the mountains, with my parents, my in-laws. A tradition we started 8-14-08. It's wonderful, but trailer camping in the cold, and tent camping on the lake are worlds different. I hope one day, we can do both. But it may not happen. My DH decided to create his own tradition, and take me on at least one cruise a year...I think I can go along with THAT idea;) I just miss the kids, and I hate when the kids are split like this. My two youngest never got to experience it, and my two oldest have a Tradition their other siblings do not.
