Hello ladies,

I've been collecting MJ magazines for a couple of years now and finally decided to join in. So much information on the forums!

I love the outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting. I've been divorced a couple of years and very intimidated of doing some of these things myself. But I've now met the love of my life and we are able to combine our individual interests into one wonderful package.

He owns a 23' fishing vessel and I own the truck to tow it. We've fished almost every weekend out of San Diego looking for yellowtail and tuna. Didn't get any, but we did manage to get some nice halibut in the bay. I enjoy canning my own tuna and the yellowtail, smoked and regular. I'm experimenting with spicy tuna now. Everyone loves my canned fish, I even won 3rd place at the LA County Fair a couple of years ago. Along with 1st place for my homegrown applesauce. This year I won 3rd place for my cranberry sauce.

I love to garden, I just need more space! I would love to have a small farm or just some acreage some day. Marc (my boyfriend) used to have chickens and bees, two things I've always wanted to try. We're hoping to get some chickens this spring depending on our living situation. He travels out of the country a lot and my work is 80 miles from his house. I do not want to do that commute every day.

I also started quilting about two years ago. I've made some lap quilts and a couple of baby blankets as gifts. I went to Alaska two years ago and hit every quilt shop I passed. Came home with lots of fabric and patterns. I also enjoy cross stitching, fly tying, and beading.

I'm so excited about this forum! Love ya!

Welcome Erika.

You will enjoy here. I started our small garden this year. We use the 4'x4' raised bed for our vegetable crops.

Erika,
Welcome.... to MJF... you will luv everyone here...
p.s. have you heard about 'Sisters on the Fly', a group for women....who like to camp, fish, etc...there are several MJF gals here who are members.

You would fit in wonderfully with Sis.o/t Fly with your 'fly tieing'.
Also, besure to check out the 'outdoors' thread here @ MJF.

Welcome! I grew up in Glendora and I had an aunt and uncle that lived in La Puente. Didn't know you could have chickens there but hope you can! We always loved going to the county fair each year. Congratulations on your winning entries. I'm sure you will enjoy it here!
