Thank you, Cindy, for thinking of Texas. I'm several hundred miles north of the hill country so I am safe. Heard on Fox News that the Guadalupe River rose 26' in 45 minutes during the night so that's why everyone was caught off guard. Praying for all the families who have lost love ones and for the missing.

Good news- we have rain!
Bad news - it knocked out our electricity.
Good news - our stove runs on gas!
Bad news - my sewing machine doesn't.

Oh no Vanessa, I am sorry. We had test yesterday morning and we have some chilly morning temps. But the rest of the week will be summer again. In the middle 70’s, perfect weather.

I'm visiting my sister in Wenatchee. The sun is trying to shine through all the smoke from forest fires, but the air quality is such that just being outside can cause coughing spells. If you have lung problems, breathing can be difficult. Looking for more clear skies on my trip to Pasco today.

Wow! It's been a crazy few weeks here in Australia. 2 weeks ago, my parents' farm was hit with a mini tornado which blew down my Dad's large hay/machinery shed. Dad was in the shed at the time covering grain. He was quick-thinking & dived under the combine harvester as the shed collapsed around him. He was so fortunate not to be crushed. 2 grain silos blew off up the paddock, the water tank blew off the stand, and the grain bin which was holding 3 tonne of wheat was upended. There's a lot of cleaning up to do there now.
Then, this last weekend Esk was battered by a vicious hailstorm. We were flying back in to Brisbane from Perth & had quite a rough landing. I have never been so glad to have my feet back on solid ground. Our rental faired well, but the little house that we have a contract on was damaged (roof damage, sky lights shamed & the awning on the back porch was smashed). That gets complicated with insurance given that we had only just signed the contract officially on Friday.
Anyway, please excuse my absence from the forum recently. It's been a crazy busy time.
Prayers for the people of Haiti, Jamaica & Cuba though. They have certainly been dealing with a lot worse than us.

So happy to have you back Cindy, I have missed you.
I am so sorry for all the damaged your folks had on their place and your new house. Hope all can be taken care and life back to normal. Keeping everyone in my prayers.
I cannot wait to hear all about your time in Guatemala.
Enjoy being back home.

Cindy, I am so sorry to hear about all the damage you and your parents received. And that is such a scary thing your dad experienced. I hope clean up will be quick for you and you all can get back on track. Sending big hugs to you and your family.
