Hi~

I joined a few years ago and then life got busy. I lost my job and had to leave 4 acres in Wisconsin, had to rehome my goats and miniature horses. I am lucky to have found a job, but it is in Illinois. So I moved to Chicago where I now live in a condo and I am trying to keep my country girl happy. I have my two dogs and my horse, who is still in WI. Oh I gain a man out of the deal, but miss those wide open places, chickens and fresh eggs, fresh goats milk, and nickers and neighs. I am hoping to learn how to keep my farm girl alive even here in the city.

Welcome back! There are so many great blogs about urban homesteading on the net. I even know of a gal who keeps rabbits, chickens, a huge garden and keeps bees.... in Brooklyn NY! You can take the girl off the farm, but you can NEVER take the farm out of the girl! Start with a container garden on the patio and you'll be fine. Best of luck and congrats on getting a man out of the deal! Prolly worth it, eh?

Thank you all!

Yes I plan on doing some container gardens on the patio. One of the first things I moved in was my aloe vera plant. Can't go with out that! But I want to at least plant some lettuce on the patio.

And yes I did find a nice man out of the deal ... even if he is a city fellow. LOL
