| My current crafting skills are counted cross stitch, crochet, scrapbooking, locker hooking, jewelry making, and tatting. Right now I'm learning to sew and quilt. I want to learn wood working (including how to whittle wood), leather working, and basket weaving. |

Fran, I wish we lived closer because I'd gladly sit down and show you.
Also, yesterday, my American Patchwork & Quilting magazine came in the mail (can you say Christmas in your mailbox? LOL). On page 69 is an add for a redwork quilt by Darlene Zimmerman. The piecing on it looks pretty simple, but it does have a scalloped edge (haven't done one of those yet). It also has the loveliest flower baskets done in redwork! There are only 4 squares with the redwork, so it looks like this would be a good place to start. The redwork part comes on a panel, so if you try it, and decide it's not really for you, you wouldn't be out a lot of money and time. Might be worth looking into. The pattern can be found online at: www.robertkaufman.com

And PS - I have a few on my list, too... Tatting (had an elderly cousin who did it) and smocking.

Oh, another find! The APQ magazine, on pg 31, has a photo of some basic embroidery stitches. These are the stitches you use for redwork. On page 4 of the patterns that come with the magazine are the instructions for making each of the stitches. I'm no good at french knots, but most of the other stitches are really rather easy to do. Take a look and see what you think!

| Tatting is next on my to-do list. That is after I get all the embroidery projects done for all my friends. Then I'll get a DVD, book, needles and get going. Have a friend out here that does it and she has made me some beautiful things. |

I really want to learn to spin wool. Further down on the list is to make stained glass beauties.

Have any of you guys who want to learn to tat seen or tried cro-tatting? I've seen some patterns and videos and I'm kind of intrigued.
