There's a bagel shop around the corner so Rod surprised me with breakfast in bed. (I slept late.) We spent the afternoon at the pool. We had gone out for pizza for lunch. The place was next door so we had a small pizza and a salad. Started talking to the owner-a guy my dd's age and within a few mins. we all felt like we had known each other forever. Trevor (pizza mans name) calls these encounters "2 min Friendships"..people you just click with instantly and you know you'll never see them again but for that brief encounter you gain a little something in life. That has happened twice this trip and it just makes you feel good.
I wanted to drive the "strip" tonight but oh my heavens..there were cars everywhere and the lights are so bright and theres mobs of people. I hated it. I could see our grown kids (in their 30s) just loving this-to get dressed up and hang ou, but again today I declaired myself "old." 30 yrs ago I might have found this fun but honestly, I had more fun in the pool. Anyway, we did not do any of the free things. We went to a no-name casino just off the strip. We got casino cards which gave us a 1/2 price buffet. I took my $20.00, played penny slots for about 3 hours and came home with $16.45 Not a bad nights entertainment. We're driving to Sacramento, CA tomorrow-a little more than 500 miles to my girlfriends house. I haven't seen her in about 4 years although we talk on the phone alot. She used to live in Florida but moved several years ago, so it will be so good to see her and her new house. California, here we come! Joey

"Goin back to Cali!"

I agree about Vegas although I've never been there I think it's definitely a younger crowd town, but speaking as an older person the thought of those BUFFETS makes my mouth water-

Keep driving safe Joey! Have a good time at your girlfriends in Sacramento!

Onward Joey! Glad that you had a nice day in Vegas, and that you pretty much came out a winner in the gambling sense. Nice job!
Have a great time with your girlfriend- it will be great to see her I am sure.
Hugs,
Laurie

I grew up on a farm in the Sacramento Delta. Hope you enjoy yourself there. I think it is a pretty area.
