I see there is a thread for Farmaggedon, which I can't wait to see. I thought this would be a good place to discuss other farm type/simple living/etc movies/documentaries.

Over the past month, my family has seen King Corn (excellent!) and also What Would Jesus Buy (funny, but sometimes over the top). We have Food Inc rented from the library (have never seen the whole thing) and also Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price.

Anything else that is good to see?

Amy, I think everyone should see Farmaggedon. Thanks for the other recommendations.

YOu may want to see The Farm, Food Fight, The Future of Food and Forks over Knives. There is also a thing called Ted Talks which has experts in their field talking about everything under the sun. I have seen a few about sustainability, indoor gardens etc.

These are all good documentaries which I have watched.

God bless,

I recommend The Harvest and Truck Farm. I especially liked Truck Farm because it deals with the problem of getting healthy food to "food deserts". Another one that is somewhat along the same lines is Supermarket Inc. which is shown on CNBC. I also found a great website for documentary lovers called topdocumentaryfilms.com. It has many documentaries available online for free! Here's the link: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com

I know there is also a documentary called "China Blue" about sweatshop factories that make jeans, and there is also one called "Black Gold" about coffee farmers, but I haven't been able to find them. They were listed in a really great book the kids and I just got done reading called "Get Real: What Kind of World Are You Buying" by Mara Rockliff.

Another good movie is "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" about a man who becomes an organic farmer. It's hilarious at times, and might make you cry.

Also itching to see Farmaggedon. "The Real Dirt of Farmer John," "Food, Inc." and "King Corn" are all terrific! I've got "Food Matters" from Netflix, but my husband insists on watching a baseball game :/ I never heard of "What Would Jesus Buy?" but the title alone is intriguing. I'll look for it. Amy, the docs you mentioned are also new to me. I'll search for those, also.

What Would Jesus Buy is about the commercialization of Christmas. Really good messages, my kids LOVED it...but my husband thought the Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping was a little over the top. But then again, he was probably watching it from a cop's perspective and just wondering how many times Reverend Billy gets arrested for his demonstrations at the mall. ;)

Vanishing of the Bees is also REALLY good to watch. The Gerson Miracle is excellent too --not so much about farming as it is about using the Gerson juicing program but it is VERY interesting!

Just saw Food Inc again a couple days ago. Oh my gosh, if that movie doesn't get to you, I don't know what will!
