Hi farmgals, I'm needing some advice. As you can see in my signature, I have two blogs - one homeschooling and one farm. I've had two separate blogs for just about a year now and its time to figure out if its time to keep the two subjects separate or combine.
I started out as only having the farm blog. The reason I now have two is a year or so ago I was talking with a (many times published) writer friend who gave me the advice to separate out my farm talk from my homeschool talk if I had the intention of publishing a book on homeschooling (which I was/am). Because of a whole lotta changes in the publishing world (which would be boring to write about here) she said it's good to be specialized and prove you have a following as a writer. So at that time (while working on my book about homeschooling) I started my homeschooling blog and stopped posting about homeschooling in my farm blog.
A year later, we have moved to a real farm, and our homeschooling has morphed into something that is really hard to separate from our farm life. So now I find that I'm actually having to THINK of stuff to post in the homeschooling blog (and then type it out, thinking "I totally could have put that in the farm blog") and I'm not posting nearly as much as I think I *should* in the homeschooling blog, especially if its supposed to be something that's a platform for my writing and publishing. (I post in the farm blog almost every day.)
With all this babbling...have I answered my own question?
OK, so what would you do? Post everything in the farm blog? Or would you keep them separate?

I agree with Loralie. One blog would give you more time. Marly

Amy,
From your letters, you sound so very busy. Simplifying into one blog sounds like it would be a good thing to do. I have a goodie box being packed...not quite ready to send it. Do you want me to send the letter now? ")

"it's good to be specialized to prove you have a following." I'd say homeschooling on a farm and the unique lessons and circumstances it brings IS specialized. I think it would have everything you need to publish a book.

Well, I THOUGHT I was going to take down the homeschooling blog, but things happened that changed my mind. Things are happening with my writing (homeschooling related, not farm related) and I've also been asked to speak at another homeschooling conference, so for now I'm going to keep it up and see what happens. Thanks for the advice, ladies!
