Good evening everyone,
Tomorrow is the first of May. Today I relinquish my crown and apron to the May Farm Girl of the Month.
This fantastic woman is a woman of many talents. She is clever, creative, compassionate, caring, and full of ambition. If she sees a job or imagines a project she figures out how to accomplish her goal.
This compassionate woman drives her elderly friends to their doctor's appointments.
She has started a food cooperative in which the families group their money and buy in bulk. The shoppers learned how to bargain with the sellers and then divide the groceries so each family member has fresh vegetables for the week.
This hardworking woman raises her poultry from the egg to the chick to the grown bird and then slaughters them herself for the freezer. Sometimes she cans the food in her pressure cooker. She looks ahead to what meals might be needed and will pressure can ahead of time so the meal prep time is shorter.
This creative woman shopped a yard sale for old children's playhouse to make into a chicken coop. She buys beat up wooden cabinets and refinishes them into beautiful heirlooms. She is the queen of recycling making most of her winter holiday gifts from previously loved items.
This amazing woman raises homing pigeons and has begun to rent them for weddings.
This amazing woman sews as well.
I would like you all to celebrate May Farmgirl of the Month Patty Byrd aka thebyrdhaus. I am proud to know her and call her my friend.
