Hello everybody!
Discovering this forum made me want to re-read the Ideabook-Cookbook-Lifebook (does that have a more concise name or acronym people use here?) which I had only ever thoroughly browsed a few years ago. I got very excited when she started mentioning Anna Black, a swing-dance instructor! It didn't make much of an impression the first time I'd looked though it because I'd only just started dancing myself, but now that I think about it it makes sense. Swing dance combines pretty (often vintage) dresses with great music and wonderful company, all three of which seem to be valued here. So, how many swing dancers do we have and what flavor ( East Coast, West Coast, Lindy, Blues etc.) do you prefer? Line dancers, ballroom dancers, latin (Tango, Balboa, Salsa, Bachata etc.) dancers and others please chime in!

I love swing music - but never tried dancing to it. Are there any good YouTube videos on swing dancing?

oh my, there are so many great youtube videos. Even if I could pick out my favorite teachers I couldn't pick my favorite videos of them. How about this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYCEvfxjI58&feature=relmfu This is the Advanced Jack and Jill competition at the last festival I went to, it starts with a warmup song and then the competition. Jack and Jill means that the leads and follows are shuffled so they don't know who they're dancing with beforehand. It's a competition of your social dancing skills. If you're in the advanced competition level then you're incredibly good but Delilah Williams in the purple dress is one of my favorites.
