I will be having cataract surgery on July 19th and on August 8th. I went to the eye doctor yesterday and was tested to see if I am in need of it. Yes, after spending 3 hours there waiting and having about 4-5 different tests I set up the dates for the operation.

I am happy in knowing that I will be able to see better although with my eye problems being what they are I will still have to wear glasses because I need a prism in my glasses to see correctly. Oh, well, at least I will hopefully be able to see better.

Good luck and many prayers are going your way, sister.

My mother had same surgery a couple of years ago and now she sees fine without glasses.

Hugs and Squishies!!

Nancy, Good luck with your surgery. I'm a Nanacy, too, and am having my cataract surgery on the 10th and the 24th. I'll have to continue to wear glasses after surgery but they may not be as think as the ones I now wear. After I'm all healed, I'll start treatment for macular degeration, the disease that took my mother's sight. I'm really concerned about that diagnosis.

Thanks for the good wishes and prayers. I wish all of us have peace of mind for all of your physical and emotional problems. There are so many sisters in one kid of crisis or other on our forums. It's a blessing to have friends with empathy and an outlet for our venting.

Boy, I reread my posts and never in my life have I made so many typos. That's what I get for watching a rerun of NCIS with hubby at the same time. Stay cool everyone. 104 here in KY today.

Hope all the best for you. I went to eye Dr. last month, and she said that it will be next year about this time to have surgery. I also have the onset of night blindness, but with a promise not to drive unless emergency, she said she would not put it on drivers license until it gets really bad. I use eye drops all the time I also have dry eyes. Good Luck to the both of you who are having surgery.

My mother has had both of her done. She does need glasses, but has always needed glasses. She sees much better and had no issues with the surgery.

I'm sure it will go well, but sending healthy thoughts for a quick recovery.

Prayers for your surgery. I had both eyes done last July---a week apart. I did fine. I do still have to wear glasses, though. Don't be surprised if your eyes change several times---needing new prescriptions. Just normal. Also, normal is a membrane growing back in one or both eyes. I have that in one eye. The doc will zap it out (laser) when it gets bad enough. You will be fine!

Hugs,
Portia

Nancy, You will be in my prayers for both surgeries. I know you are looking forward to the advantages of these surgeries, but there must be some nervousness on your part, too. I hope you will feel calm throughout...

Best wishes. I'll keep looking for your updates here and at the "over 50" forum.

To both Nancys . . I will be praying.
I know many folks and some relatives who have had cataract surgery and have all done well, without issues. Say it's pretty much "a breeze" and are grateful for their improved vision.

I had my surgery yesterday and am doing very well. I saw the doctor this morning and he's please with how the eye looks and confirmed my appointment on the 24th to have my other eye done. I can't see as well as I did with my glasses but I can see a whole lot better than I could without them. My vision should improve daily....can't wait to buy my first pair of Sally Jesse Raphael red glasses!

I pray that Nancy (Annielaurel) as a good outcome also.

My second surgery was this morning. I'm so happy that it's over and now I wait for vision to stablilze so that I can get glasses so that I can see farther than 12 inches from my nose. Doctor only fixed my close-up vision so everything is still blurry except for close reading.

Good luck to you, Nancy Annie Laurel with your surgery and thanks to all our farmgirl sisters for prayers and good wishes.

Sending you good thoughts. Probably the 1st thing you'll notice is how seemingly bright things are during the day, When my Dad had his, that was his main observation. Keep us posted!!

Everything is a whole lot brighter but I don't know if it will always be like that. Will have to wait and see. Doctor gave me great news...I can be measured for glasses in two weeks instead of waiting for the second eye to heal since I only see light and movement in that eye. Hurray!

Thanks again for all the postive vibes.
