does anyone have a really great gluten free chocolate chip cookie recipe?
My youngest nephew is on a gluten free diet but he loves my oatmeal choc chip cookies Do oats contain gluten ?
His mom has a recipe but says the cookies come out thin. She uses a gluten free flour. Could almond meal be substituted an some way?
thanks! |

Oats CAN be gluten free, but if he's a celiac you're going to want to make sure that they are specifically gluten free oats because most are made in factories that also produce gluten containing products, so therefore they aren't technically gluten free.
I haven't personally tried this recipe, but I tend to like this gal's stuff, so I would give it a try. http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/2010/04/oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies.html
These ones look kinda crunchy and if that's what you're going for, then these ingredients will be easier to come by than the previous recipe. If you don't want them so crunchy maybe modify the recipe a bit :) http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/thick-chewy-oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies/

oh also make sure that the chocolate chips are also gluten free. in my above recipe.
these cookies don't rise much, they usually keep what ever shape you make them before baking, but they are a soft firm cookie, that's pretty flakey and I like the texture a lot!

Hi Anna! Try going to Marksdailyapple.com they have hundreds of gluten free, sugar free, and dairy free recipes. I follow the Paleo way of eating and love his site. Also, google Paleo recipes and you'll be directed to all kinds of sites. Elana's pantry is another good one. Hope this helps!
