Hey Farmgirls,
I use GMAIL as my main email account, but I'm on so many lists, and my family, friends, church, school, and knitting classes send mail to me there, so needless to say I am sometimes inundated with email.
I have an Iphone, a Nook, and a computer. I am still able to use my computer to access my email, but all of a sudden, my account is not accessible using any mobile device. I have tried to delete and reinstall the account on the phone, closed all apps and rebooted the phone, and changed my password. All to no avail. The message I get says that the server "imap.gmail.com" is not valid, make sure my account information is correct. It is. I even tried to install it on my daughter's ipod, but it does the same thing. I read somewhere that it happens when a gmail account is opened too often, like how an Iphone checks the mail automatically every 15 minutes, but have not found how to fix it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Wish I could help Nicole, but I have no clue. Very frustrating! I hope that you get it all worked out quickly. Technology can be so wonderful, yet so frustrating at times!

Laurie, it is soooo frustrating, but, boy can I tell how much time is stolen in snippets by checking the phone all the time when the email beeps. I've gotten so much done today, I just can't tell you. Must learn to unplug even more!
However, I do need to be able to access it from my phone, and Alee, thank you so much for trying to help. I tried everything it says, but to no avail. I am so frustrated! DH says he will take me to the Apple store on Sunday and see if they can help. We are both very technical but this is driving me nuts!!!!

Found out the root of the problem. Sometimes, I tend to check my email a little too much! My settings were set to automatically check the email every fifteen minutes, and then I'd open the app sometimes on top of that. Yikes! Anyhow, gmail will lock you out if it thinks it is being checked too often. When I followed the instructions that Alee sent as well as started turning off my phone at night, and changed the settings to a longer length between checks, the gmail server came back on. It "reset". Found out that this is a common problem among Iphone users.
