My LGD is half Pyrenees. I hope you're able to find her a good home!

What do you know about her parents - do you know if they were working dogs/LGDs? How old is she? I'm looking for a good LGD for my goats...

When you say see likes horses and likes to run - does she run the horses or do you mean gets along well with horses?

Kathy- Pyrenees are known for their wandering. They tend to desire larger territories than their owners own... so they will hop the fence and let themselves out to go patrol a couple square miles. This is easily quelled with proper, tall fencing and/or electric fence and/or invisible fence collar systems.

MaryJane herself has a couple Pyrs, and they starred in the magazine!

Tina, your girl is beautiful! I hope you find her a good home. We would take her if you weren't so far away :) Dierks would love a buddy.

no she is not spayed. im kinda ify on the whole principal of it.nothing is wrong with it of coarse i just wonder when did we as humans take it upon ourselves to judge whether another animal should have its breeding rights taken from them. i know i wouldnt like it if someone imposed it on me. just a thought. lindsey if you wish to private message me that is fine. ladies i just wonder can this be like an open adoption? shes a dog but when i got her i vowed to her that i would take care of her, make her safe and make sure her belly is always full.

She is so beautiful! If I lived closer and didn't have our dog I would snatch her up. I hope you find a good home for her Tina.

i hope so too. thats all i want for her. there will be no adoption fee. I naturally thought of my sisters first. i have a high respect for all of you.Hope, pray, and still keeping on praying. but i think you guys would be the last people to hurt her. shes part of my family and i do want her to be loved. I also think she needs something to do. Shes not a proven LGD but whenever my horse gets loose does she let me know! all night! bark, bark, bark! only i never understood what she was saying until my horse was by bedroom window just looking at me. then i knew what she was telling me. so perhaps given time she could be an LGD. shes certainly smart enough.

Have you tried contacting a Pyrenees rescue group? Google breed rescue and see what comes up under Pyrenees. PA is a big state and there's bound to be a rescue group.

Tina,

I just thought of this:

http://www.homesteadingtoday.com/

It is a homesteading message board and they have a thread for LGDs. Maybe someone there may be interested? I hope so.

She is BEAUTIFUL! We had a Pyrenees several years ago but she died having puppies. Many other dogs (mostly "Heinz 57") since then!

Gosh I'd take her. I have a farm/ ranch, fenced large area- w/ chickens( she might need to get used to that) and horses. Other dogs, two male aussies. One vey old female who now stays in bed in the house most days. Any way I can get her to Ca. ?? I took care of four great pyr's for their first four years at work. I love the breed and have been wanting to get one.

"Any way I can get her to Ca. ??"

I often hear about people taxing dogs across the country. There MUST be a way to have this happen! (I've been keeping an eye on this post and am SO hopeful someone can take this beautiful dog!)

Crossing my fingers....

Here's a link to an article I read in Out Here, magazine put out by Tractor Supply, about animal rescue that has a network to transport dogs. http://www.tractorsupply.com/content/magazine/spring_2011/spring_2011_freedom_train_animal_rescue might be someplace to start looking.

wow cali. and you have experience. my sweet "beller beller cindereller" (i now the nick name is silly, but it makes her tail wag)would like that. she is very playful she may want to PLAY with the chickens. she has no idea how big she is. feed her away from other dogs though, people are fine i can stick my hands on her and in her bowl and she doesnt flinch. i always handler her food so that she knows my scent. read it somewhere. just dont let the other dogs in her face when she eats. she gets snippy then. and if she even raises so much as a growl make a funny noise to interrupt her. i grunt and say none of that she usually stop then but shes a dominant and so is my lab so i have to supervise. but other wise shes good. little kids could put there faces near her and she would be fine.
