Ok, I am stumped,,, what is this?
Is it a meat tenderizer by chance? or?

The funny thing is, it looks (from the back) like it has been used as a hammer...lol!
The handle looks to have been hand turned on a Lath....
anyone seen one of these before?

I thought it would be used to scrap the mud/dirt off your shoes or boots. Joey

A hair brush for very thick hair. Put a ribbon on it and hang it by the back door. You can show it to intruders.

I'm thinking it's some sort of fiber comb, like for flax.

My guess would be an ice shaver. If it was a lot older, I'd say a sugar cone scraper.

Oh you gals are a Hoot!

So I guess we can agree to disagree as to what it is... lol!

SO I am thinking I may have to put a ribbon around the "Big Foot' brush and hang it by my bed in my wee lil trailer, so if an intruder tries to get in, I can beat him senseless or make him brush the mud off his boots! lololol!

My guess was the same as Jonni's - something used for carding flax or cotton. It looks like a tool similar to what we saw on a field trip to Slater's Mill in Pawtucket, RI when I was a kid. It'll be interesting to find out! :) Good luck!

Hello,

I think it looks like a grooming tool of some sort, maybe animals.
Or something to do with fiber somehow.

I do like the idea of tying a ribbon or jute around it and hanging it up as a primitive piece.

Looks like a spanking paddle my momma used! Just kidding, it was only a little wooden spoon, but the way she would swing that thing, felt like it had metal teeth! Ouch!

Believe it or not, I just saw a similar item and it was a fish scaler. I don't know how big your item is but this one was about 3 inches plus the handle. I doesn't look like the fish scalers my dad used but this was what they called it.
