I have been using a little bit of my seaglass to make some necklace pendants :) I'm wondering if anyone would like to barter for one or some of them? I'd be willing to sell them for $6 for one; or to barter for ?? Let me know if you're interested in any of them. They're made from Lake Champlain "sea" glass that washed up on the shores.

Sheila, I would love to have one or two! I am happy to pay for them, or let me know what you would like for a barter.

Just a question....What is seaglass? Is it broken glass that has been polished by the ocean or is it a rock that naturally occurs in the ocean? I'm a rockhound.

Laura...it is the glass from broken bottles etc...that is buffeted by the ocean and worn smooth.
It is rarely clear...usually has a milky look to it. It is so pretty...but you either love it or
hate it, or so it seems to me. I love it!!! We don't get a lot of it washing up on our Oregon
Coast Line...but once in a while you find it.

peggy

It is really neat, some one gave me some from a beach here at Fort Bragg where there is a place called Glass Beach and it is just covered with glass. They stopped letting people take glass from there but I would still like to go there and see it some day.

Darlene and Peggy, I have been to Glass Beach many many times. It is just as wonderful as you have heard. I have never heard that they stopped letting people take glass from there....we were there about a year ago and were able to collect. The beach is covered in glass and I have huge mason jars full of it, plus a small dish of very rare colors....the reds, pinks, turquoise, true yellow, etc. Plus tons of interesting ceramic pieces. Darlene, you aren't too far from Fort Bragg are you? It's definitely worth the trip! I only wish I knew how to make jewelry out of mine like Sheila does :)

This is one of the picture frames I've made using glass from Glass Beach. The picture inside is the actual Glass Beach! It really does look like that!!

Hugs, Tammy

Tammy...oh, that is so cool. I would love to find sea glass like that. I would love to see
that Beach in person. I did google it last night and they too had some cool pictures of it.
I can't imagine them not letting people take it...as it appears to be so plentiful with it and
I am sure more washes up all the time. As I said, we find very little sea glass here but over
many many years of looking I probably have a dozen pieces of it...from very small to fairly big.
We do not even get cool sea shells at our Washington and Oregon Beaches...and what you do find
is always broken pieces. Once in a blue moon you will find small shells that are white and
look like little asian wide brimmed hats. And we do find agates on our beaches on rare occassions.
I have one quart jar full of those kind of finds...but that is a 30 year collection and I go
a couple of times a year. We do have one Beach called Agate Beach and you can find some good size
agates there.

Again Tammy thanks so much for Sharing your personal picture and sea glass. I bet you could probably
get Sheila to make you a piece of jewelry or two with her talent and your own Sea Glass...as it
sounds like you have a lot of it.

Happy Easter Sisters!!!

Hugs,
peggy

Some day i hope to go.
Thanks for the info.

Sheila...I got my two sea glass pendants today! They are so pretty and you did a great job on them.
Thank You...I will start putting together a box of goodies for you.
Also, don't forget if you get any pink or lavender or red sea glass, I would take one each of those too.

Hugs and Thanks,
Peggy

Peggy, I have some red, lavender (and pink but it's teeny) seaglass from Glass Beach. I don't know how big a piece Sheila needs to make a pendant, but if my pieces are big enough I am happy to send them to her for you! Sheila, let me know! I have a really big piece of red, but its so big and thick that it looks black until you hold it up to the light! It was a real "find" :)

tammy, I'd say about the size of a dime is as small as you can make them and still have the glass show enough :) If you want to do that, Peggy and Tammy, let me know! :)
