Ever have one of those weeks.... when you have to sigh and through up your hands....
Then just when you need it most, the phone rings and a wonderful old friend is on the other end...
A very wonderful, but very far away friend called me outta the blue to catch up on everything....
We laughed, we fussed, we giggled, we gossiped,,, but best of all we had a lovely 'phone visit'...
Sometimes I miss being so far away from family and friends... but I am also grateful for the new friends I have up here.
So tonight I will enjoy a lovely glass of wine and a big slice of German Chocolate cake in her honor!

Hugz EllynAnne, hugz & yep, I have my straw! winkwink!

Oh, yes, Grace! I had that experience last week, when my best childhood friend called and we spent a couple of ours catching up, laughing and pondering life. I didn't have cake or wine, but afterwards I felt rejuvenated, refreshed, lighthearted and as if the whole world was suddenly shiny and new again. Best girlfriends are priceless gifts sent from Above! I can't imagine what life would have been, or would ever be, without her! Hugs - Nini

Isn't it wonderful how something like that gives you such a lift. (Of course maybe the wine gave you bit of a lift. )
It is so amazing to me how you can not see someone in such a long time when you talk to them it seems to close the gap that was put there by time and distance.
Enjoy your day!

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Nini & Denise,,,
So true!
I miss all my dear friends back in California... as well as my 3 very dear friends across the USA, and my longest, oldest, (sisters separated at birth-as we call ourselves) in Germany... and yes, when we all catch up, even if it has been many months, it seems only like a week have gone by.
Today I watched a e-video from my best friend in Germany.... it was from Easter, and everyone was gathered around the table having 'Maultasche Souppe'... oh how I am so very homesick.
But I also have wonderful friends here in Spokane and I cherish them too!

When EllyAnn called,, her voice just made me smile...we chatted for nearly an hour (thank goodness for unlimited long distance)... and we (almost) solved the World's problems....

Someday I will have to stitch up the verse, "In the Garden of Life, if you were a flower... I'd pick you!"....

Hi Grace, I am so glad you wrote this. My husband and I have an offer on our place here. I have been pondering the thought on what it was going to be like moving away and leaving all my friends and some family behind. My husband grew up here and we live on the same property he was born on. My family moved here when I was 14. I met my husband in High School when I was 15. We married right out of High School and have been married for 34 years. I have been so worried about moving away and leaving all my friends behind. Starting over at this age is scary for me. Reading this article has made me feel better about the whole thing. Thank You for writing this.

Hey Dorinda,
I hear ya...
My hubby & I (were) are High School sweethearts.. and here we are, 41 years later, still sweethearts.
Moving away from our family, friends, co-workers was hard...but thank goodness for phones, letters and computers... it all keeps us connected.
