Oh my goodness, my heart just hurts for her and her family. Prayers go up each day to please comfort and strengthen them. Thank you again for the update Holly. I hope all of us farmgirls will send big prayers tonight.

Good evening everyone,
Shaina ate some today. She has been told she must eat by mouth 1800 calories in order to have the ng tube removed. She did not throw up and was feeling a little better.
I can not imagine the emotional roller coaster her mom and family must be on.

Oh thank you for the update on Shaina, I was thinking about how she was doing today.
and praying that her transplant would work right and that she would start feeling better. I am glad you started to eat that should make her body stronger. Poor little sweetie has gone through so much.
I am still praying for her and her family.

Shaina has a bad day and then is a little better the next. Then she has a bad day again.
Her mom is incredibly grateful for all of the prayers and good energy all of you are sending. She is a mess and wishes the emotional roller coaster ride would coast to a halt with a happy ending.

I wish there was more we could do...but we just have to trust God in all of this...I know it has to be so heart wrenching for her family to watch her go through all of this...thoughts and prayers continue for Shaina...thanks for keeping us updated...

I am keeping Shaina and her family in our prayers.
She is just such a strong, young person.
Thank you for keeping us updated.
Do you know if she has a favorite hobby? I've been
sending little things to her and wanted to see if there was
anything special she'd like. Thanks.

Shaina and her family are in my prayers and I know it must be hard watching and hoping that things are going to stay better. Shaina has been through so much in her young life and with the things she is going through and with her body fighting against the bad things inside her she must be really strong.
I know that God is with them all and has Shaina in his arms around the clock.

Still praying for the entire family. Hopefully there will be more good days than bad days soon.
I doubt Shaina is up to doing much right, but now does anyone know if she could use any thing like fuzzy socks or does she read? What about her mom? I would love to put together something nice for them.

A post from her mom,
Update(Sept 24th)- Yesterday Shaina had her chest CT & stomach MRI-both came back clean (no fungus or infection). However CT Scan showed picc line got flipped up. They said they may have to pull it and put in another one. I was like REALLY R U F-ing KIDDING ME. Thank god they talked to the Picc unit and they were able to come power flush it which made it go back in place. All of her counts have dropped which they said could be from the antibiotics shes getting. Now that scans are clean they have stopped all antibiotics and anti-fungal meds. Overall yesterday was a pretty good day. Shaina also ate the most she has in weeks:)
Today Shaina's getting a blood transfusion because her hemoglobin was too low. Her other counts are still low. Over the next day or do we hope they start to bounce back. Other than that she's doing good and has been eating:)
Sept 25 Today she ate well and her hemoglobin numbers were up. If all goes well they will release her to the Ronald McDonald house tomorrow. She is going out with the ng tube and the pic line.
On an aside I have purchased for her sister and marrow donor a bracelet with a charm that is being engraved to say "giver of hope" on one side and her initials on the other side. It should be ready by the beginning of next week.

Well all does sound pretty good. I know the picc being flipped is just so frustrating. But I sure hope she can head over to the Ronald McDonald House tomorrow. Thank you again for the update, and certainly more prayers tonight.

Shaina left the hospital today at 1:30 to go to the Ronald McDonald HOuse. She does not have a lot of strength but Heather she really likes soft socks or hats in neon colors. Her mom might use some soothing teas or lovely chocolate.
Her mom used to be a great Weight Watchers success story but with Shaina's illness has fallen off the diet train.

Hey Holly! I just started reading your updates. I would love to send a card or something to Shaina. I have an 11 year old daughter and she would probably love to send something too. If you could email her address to me I would love to do this for her. I'm putting her and her family on my prayer list.
