Great idea! Monterey Jack cheese with sour cherry jam for lunch today. Yummm!

I have never thought of mixing a jam with my grilled cheese, but I will give it a try. We have grilled cheese and tomato soup about every two weeks, ever since I started making homemade tomato soup. my latest mix was smoky chipotle and munster. ( I do not think I spelled that right.) Yummy.

Glad to share, after I read my post and your reply, I thought, I hope they knew the grilled cheese is where I have been changing things up with the chipotle and munster cheese. The tomato soup was in the southern Lady magazine several years ago, In January, but who can afford to buy tomatoes by the pound then, so I saved it for the following summer and it is great. Personal experience with the girls I work with who said they never liked tomato soup have fallen for it as well as the combinations of different cheeses. the soup takes a little time but is so worth it.
roasted tomato soup
5 - pound of Roma tomatoes (or whatever the garden gives) halved 1 - large onion sliced ( thick works or thin) 4 - large carrots peeled and sliced about 1/2 in thick 2 - heads of garlic (crushed in a jar works to) 1/4 cup - olive oil 1 1/2 tsp salt (divided) 1 1/2 tsp ground black pepper (divided) 2 quart of chicken broth 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice ( in a bottle works well) 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp ground red pepper (optional)
preheat oven to 450 line a roasting pan with aluminum foil (makes it easier to clean)
combine: tomatoes onion garlic olive oil 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper toss to coat
place in pan bake for 1 hour
remove from oven let rest 10 minutes
place in a blender and puree
In a large pot add the tomato puree chicken broth lemon juice Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper and hot pepper
stir bring to a boil simmer 10 minutes
I put into pint jars and pressure can at 5 pound pressure for 20 minutes.
well worth the steps and time enjoy
