Meet (12 or 13yo male) Alias. Owner lost his job and surrendered him, and was not able to care for him.
So far he does not care about the other dogs, cats or even the chickens. We have yet to determine house training (they were not sure).
We have 10 days to see if he'll get along with the others, and if not he can go back, but he was scheduled to be put down tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.
The kids want me to go back and get myself the chihuahua mix - ha ha!
Just sharing.

Kristina,

Oh my goodness. A quick update. This dog acts like a puppy. Love to play with toys, will sit, shake and lay on command, and is getting along just find with everyone. He has yet to meet two more indoor cats, but so far, so good.
I do have to get some toys that he can't chew up - ha ha! He loves tennis balls, but after a half hour, chewed it up, ha ha ha!

Oh what a great story for this sweetie of a pup! It is so wonderful that you were looking for a new dog when the owner of this rather elderly dog had to give him up. I bet he will fit right in as soon as he gets to know everyone! Keep us posted on how the new home life rolls out for everyone!

Hi Kristina, Wow, what a great dog and I think he exudes intelligence in his demeanor :-) Have a good time with your new family member. Annie

Kristina,
I am so happy for you and your family! What a sweetie Alias is (cool name too!)
Our Australian Cattle Dog/Golden Retriever has gone through so many balls I cannot even tell you. BUT, we picked up a Jolly Ball (ball for horses) and it is indestructible! She loves it! I also found that good quality tennis balls will last as well as Chuckit balls. Our girl loves them :)
Bless your heart for saving him.Congratulations again!

Kristina another good, though unlikely, indestructible toy, is a Croc. yes, the funky looking rubber shoes. Our Husky grabbed one i was getting rid of and it lasted almost three years before it finally died. he chewed, and chewed, and chewed on it.
so glad to hear your new friend is doing so well. blessings to you for taking in a Staffie. they are wonderful dogs who dont' deserve the bad rep they have.

Just giving you an update. Alias is more comfortable now. I spent $9.99 for a "Chuck It" ball, and he has not yet found a way to chew it up. In fact, it's his favorite ball to play with.
Jesse, the youngest of our dogs, has a pillow that he's carried around since he's been a puppy. Actually, he's been through several pillows, but this last one, the longest. We even tried to trade it out for a new one, and he managed to dig the old one out of the closet instead. At bed time, he'll go and get the pillow, which we named for him. He'll drag it to where ever he wants and simply lay his head down on it.
The other night the kids said Jesse was carrying his pillow around, and Alias saw him. Alias kept following Jesse around, confused. They said he was looking at Jesse, as if he was say, "I don't get it? It's not a toy? What is it?" Ha ha ha ha!

Another update:
I laughed when I saw Alias running around to find his ball, when the kids were getting off the school bus. He is now getting super excited when the bus pulls in, and wanting to play with them.
Last night, however, I made a trip to the library by myself. The kids came out laughing, saying Alias got really excited when he saw me pull in, and ran to get his ball.
Oh, we love this dog. Just had to share.
