Thanks for the weapon gramadinah.

I think Nini still has me beat since she can:

A: "Beam me up" to the sun
B: Lock on with phasers and/or proton torpedos
C: Kirk could jump out and punch my robot and be back before dinner. ;)

Oh my gosh. What's going on here!? You all need to get back in bed and go to sleep.

(Although, just to say it: I think the Enterprise wins. A) Intergalactic space travel B) Starship-size weaponry. Though, Optimus ... He might be a close 2nd.)

Speaking of the Enterprise, I play my next piece!

I used to be able to upload photos with no problems. Now when I hit the upload icon, select my photo, then hit upload - nothing happens. Any ideas what could be the problem?

Heather: All appears functional from IE. (And if it gets by in IE, that usually means everything else sails.)

So, my first suggestion is to restart your browser, and most likely your whole computer. If that doesn't resolve the problem, then find the instructions pertaining to your browser on this page, and follow them for clearing your cache:
http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache
or
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en

If that doesn't do it, then let me know the operating system you're using (like Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OS X), and the browser and its version. We'll check that you have things like Javascript enabled and so on.

That didn't work. I have windows 7. I'm not sure what the browser and version mean.

The browser is the program you're using to view websites on the internet. For example, you're probably using Internet Explorer - the blue E with a golden ring around it like Saturn - if you're on Windows 7.

If you see a gear icon in the upper right, click on it and at the bottom of the list is "About Internet Explorer". Click on that. A little pop-up opens with something like "Internet Explorer 11" and some other details.

Go to this page:
http://www.enable-javascript.com/

Is there a box with a green checkmark that says "JavaScript is enabled in your web browser"?

When you click the button to upload a photo: the pop-up opens, you click "browse" and select a file, and it shows the location and name of the photo you have chosen in the box next to "browse"? Then, you click "upload". Does the separate pop-up window close eventually? Or does it not even close?

Yes, it says the JavaScript is enabled.

So far the pop up window doesn't close, but I don't wait that long for it. There is a little circle that pops up in the upper left corner when the picture is uploading. If that circle doesn't pop up and start going around nothing happens at all. Even if I repeatedly click upload.

In the past sometimes it would upload if I double clicked the photo I selected and other times it would only work if I clicked the photo then the open button. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but that's what I tried. Is there something in the file name that matters? I just copy them from my camera card to the computer. Do I need to save them differently?

Maybe I just wasn't waiting long enough. The circle never came up, but this one finally worked :)

Well, that's good news!

The file name could be playing a role in difficulties, though usually that's more the sort of problem where the photo uploads, but then doesn't display.

Certainly, giving plenty of time for the photo to upload is good. If you're saving them straight from the camera, and then uploading those, that's likely a pretty large file to send across the internet. So, it needs not only time to send, but time for our server to resize the image, because we can't afford to store lots of large images, and having our chatroom display, as-is, all those large images would radically slow down the time it takes to display any given post on our chatroom - not just for the one person, but inevitably for everyone who comes to browse our chatroom.
Anyway, during that photo upload, there's lots of pieces involved that may each be operating less than optimally, and thus make it take a while ... and, sometimes, everything works great, and it just uploads quick as a whip.

Regardless, thanks for your patience and willingness to work through the problem, Heather!

Thanks for all your help Gabe. I just thought since the little circle quit coming up that nothing was happening. If you wouldn't have asked about the box closing I wouldn't have waited to see :) I'm really clueless as to how computer and internet things work so I'm very happy people like you understand it and are willing to help the clueless ones like myself!
