I love broccoli from our garden, just hate picking off all the icky green worms. Any suggestions? I do the saltwater soak thing, but the broccoli floats and I end up with some remaining -- so tediously I pick through each little piece before using it, and probably we end up eating some of the little worms :/ I'm happy to live in denial about that :)
ANy hints appreciated!! Thanks!

Well... Last year I discovered while blanching them that whatever worms don't come off in the initial salt water soak will pop off stiff as a board in boiling water or in the cold water soak immediately thereafter! LOL! GROSS, aren't they?! Oyoyoy!!! If you end up eating some, just remember, it's only protein! ;) I wish I had more for you, Sheila, I really do. They really "bug" me, too! Hugs - Nini

I didn't have any worms on my broccoli. I'm not certain why. One thing I have done since the last frost in spring is to water my garden with the dishwater after I have washed dishes. I mark the last place I finished watering and start watering there the next time I do dishes. I pour the dishwater over the plant to it gets on the leaves. The organic dish soap I use keeps the bugs away and the food stuff in the water provides nutrients.
